We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart.

難道我們又是在稱讚自己嗎？難道我們像別人一樣，需要拿著推薦信去見你們，或拿著你們的推薦信去見別人嗎？

我現在所做的，將來還會繼續做下去，為了要斷絕那些投機分子的機會，使他們無法吹噓自己的職分與我們一樣。其實這些人是假使徒，為人詭詐，冒充基督的使徒。這不足為奇，因為連撒旦都裝成光明的天使，牠的爪牙若冒充公義的僕人，又何足為奇呢？他們最終必得到應得的報應。我再說，誰也別把我當作傻瓜。如果你們真的當我是傻瓜，就把我當傻瓜看待吧！好讓我也能說幾句自誇的話。

那些勉強你們接受割禮的人只不過是做表面工夫，想討好別人，避免為基督的十字架受迫害。那些接受割禮的人自己也不能遵行律法。他們要你們接受割禮，無非是想藉著你們的肉體誇耀。至於我自己，我絕不誇耀別的，只誇耀我們主耶穌基督的十字架。因為對我來說，世上的一切都已經被釘在十字架上；對這世界來說，我已經被釘在十字架上。

自誇雖然無益，但我不得不繼續誇下去，談談主給我的異象和啟示。我知道一位基督徒在十四年前曾被提到第三層天上，是在肉身之內還是在肉身之外，我不知道，只有上帝知道。我認識這個人，是在肉身之內還是在肉身之外，我不知道，只有上帝知道。他曾被提到天上的樂園裡，聽見了人不可以言傳的隱祕事。我要為這人誇口。至於我自己，我除了誇耀自己的軟弱以外，別無可誇。就算我誇口，也不算狂妄，因為我所說的都是實話。只是我不會這樣做，恐怕有人把我看得太高，超過了他對我的所見所聞。為了使我不至於因所受的啟示太大而自高，有一根「刺」在我身上，就是有撒旦的爪牙攻擊我，免得我驕傲自大。我曾三次祈求主叫這根刺離開我，但祂說：「我的恩典足夠你用，因為我的能力在人的軟弱上更顯得全備。」所以，我更喜歡誇耀自己的軟弱，好讓基督的能力蔭庇我。

因為主賜給我們權柄是為了造就你們，不是為了毀壞你們，就算我為這權柄稍微誇口，也不會感到羞愧。

反倒在任何事上都顯明自己是上帝的僕人。不論遭遇什麼患難、艱苦、貧窮、

我們不敢和那些自我推薦的人相提並論！他們以自己的尺度衡量自己，自我比較，實在不明智！

讓別人誇獎你，不要開口自誇；讓外人稱讚你，不要自吹自擂。

我成了「傻瓜」是被你們逼的！你們本該稱許我才對。我雖然算不了什麼，卻沒有一點比不上那些「超級使徒」。

因為，蒙悅納的是主所稱許的人，而不是自我稱許的人。
