Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest unto God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.

Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade others. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.

We know what it means to have respect for the Lord. So we try to help other people to understand it. What we are is plain to God. I hope it is also plain to your way of thinking.

Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others. But what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience.

Because we understand our fearful responsibility to the Lord, we work hard to persuade others. God knows we are sincere, and I hope you know this, too.

Therefore, since we know the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade people. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your consciences.

and some save, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

And the Lord’s servant must not strive, but be gentle towards all, apt to teach, forbearing,in meekness correcting them that oppose themselves; if peradventure God may give them repentance unto the knowledge of the truth,and they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him unto his will.

saying, This man persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.

And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.

For calamity from God is a terror to me, And by reason of his majesty I can do nothing.

For our glorying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you- ward.For we write no other things unto you, than what ye read or even acknowledge, and I hope ye will acknowledge unto the end:as also ye did acknowledge us in part, that we are your glorying, even as ye also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.

And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rise from the dead.

For our exhortation is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:but even as we have been approved of God to be intrusted with the gospel, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God who proveth our hearts.For neither at any time were we found using words of flattery, as ye know, nor a cloak of covetousness, God is witness;nor seeking glory of men, neither from you nor from others, when we might have claimed authority as apostles of Christ.But we were gentle in the midst of you, as when a nurse cherisheth her own children:even so, being affectionately desirous of you, we were well pleased to impart unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were become very dear to us.For ye remember, brethren, our labor and travail: working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and righteously and unblamably we behaved ourselves toward you that believe:as ye know how we dealt with each one of you, as a father with his own children, exhorting you, and encouraging you, and testifying,to the end that ye should walk worthily of God, who calleth you into his own kingdom and glory.

For the king knoweth of these things, unto whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things is hidden from him; for this hath not been done in a corner.

And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded Jews and Greeks.

And working together with him we entreat also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain

For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, The poison whereof my spirit drinketh up: The terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.

And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life.

Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken asunder by him.

But I will warn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, who after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

We are ambassadors therefore on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beseech you on behalf of Christ, be ye reconciled to God.

whom we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ;whereunto I labor also, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

Now when the synagogue broke up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.

Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we faint not:but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

And if thy hand cause thee to stumble, cut it off: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed, rather than having thy two hands to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire.

And ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they are no gods, that are made with hands:

I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: While I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.Thy fierce wrath is gone over me; Thy terrors have cut me off.

Who knoweth the power of thine anger, And thy wrath according to the fear that is due unto thee?

Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, And shall chase him at his heels.

How are they become a desolation in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? or am I striving to please men? if I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ.

And they journeyed: and a terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.

And be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling hath seized the godless ones: Who among us can dwell with the devouring fire? who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?

For we are not as the many, corrupting the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God, speak we in Christ.

For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s shall save it.For what doth it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?For what should a man give in exchange for his life?For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of man also shall be ashamed of him, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

And when they had appointed him a day, they came to him into his lodging in great number; to whom he expounded the matter, testifying the kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning till evening.

Thou, even thou, art to be feared; And who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
