毅然棄絕一切暗昧可恥之事、不行巧詐、不貶損天主之道、惟知在天主明鑒之下、藉真理之昌明、而自致於各人之良知而已。

Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.

Instead, we have given up doing secret and shameful things. We don’t twist God’s word. In fact, we do just the opposite. We present the truth plainly. In the sight of God, we make our appeal to everyone’s sense of what is right and wrong.

But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.

We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this.

Instead, we have renounced secret and shameful things, not acting deceitfully or distorting the word of God, but commending ourselves before God to everyone’s conscience by an open display of the truth.

我們不像許多人，把上帝的道當商品販賣，而是由於真誠，而是受命於上帝，在上帝面前憑着基督講道。

我們的勸勉不是出於錯誤，也不是出於污穢，也不是用詭詐。但上帝既然認定我們經得起考驗，把福音託付我們，我們就照着傳講，不是要討人喜歡，而是要討那考驗我們的心的上帝喜歡。因為我們從來沒有用過諂媚的話，這是你們知道的，也沒有藏着貪心，這是上帝可以作證的。

既然我們知道主是可畏的，就勸導人；但是上帝是認識我們的，我盼望你們的良心也認識我們。

那樣的人是假使徒，行事詭詐，裝作基督的使徒。這也不足為奇，因為連撒但也裝作光明的天使。所以，他的差役若裝作公義的差役也沒有甚麼大不了。他們的結局必然跟他們的行為相符。

所以，時候未到，在主來以前甚麼都不要評斷，他要照出暗中的隱情，揭發人的動機。那時，各人要從上帝那裏得着稱讚。

我只怕你們的心偏邪了，失去那向基督所獻誠懇貞潔的心，就像蛇用詭詐誘惑了夏娃一樣。

我若對提多誇獎過你們甚麼，也不覺得慚愧，因為我對提多誇獎你們的話是真的，正如我對你們所說的話也向來都是真的。

反倒在各樣的事上表明自己是上帝的用人：就如在持久的忍耐、患難、困苦、災難、鞭打、監禁、動亂、勞碌、失眠、飢餓、廉潔、知識、堅忍、恩慈、聖靈的感化、無偽的愛心、真實的言語、上帝的大能、藉着仁義的兵器在左在右、

那麼，你們現在所看為羞恥的事，當時有甚麼果子呢？那些事的結局就是死。

這樣，我們不再作小孩子，中了人的詭計和欺騙的法術，被一切邪說之風搖動，飄來飄去。

因為，他們暗中所做的，就是連提起來都是可恥的。

我不以福音為恥；這福音本是上帝的大能，要救一切相信的，先是猶太人，後是希臘人。

我們所誇的是：我們在世為人，特別是跟你們的關係，是憑着上帝所賜的坦率和真誠，不是靠人的聰明，而是靠上帝的恩惠；這是我們的良心可以作證的。

雖然我不擅長說話，我的知識卻不如此。這點我們已經在每一方面各樣事上向你們表明了。
