But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.

But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises.For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second.For he finds fault with them when he says:“ Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. For they did not continue in my covenant, and so I showed no concern for them, declares the Lord.For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant.

But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away.

and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

Thus it is written,“ The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying,“ This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,

And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying,“ This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.

For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,

And he said to them,“ Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.”

And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues.

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God’s grace, which was given me by the working of his power.

And he said to them,“ This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.

Then he who is physically uncircumcised but keeps the law will condemn you who have the written code and circumcision but break the law.For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical.But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.

for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service,

According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it.

Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses’ face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end,

For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written,“ Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for“ The righteous shall live by faith.”But the law is not of faith, rather“ The one who does them shall live by them.”

If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed.

What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each.

of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints.To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.

For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will.

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,

through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations,

I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died.The very commandment that promised life proved to be death to me.For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me.

For the law brings wrath, but where there is no law there is no transgression.

“‘ Cursed be anyone who does not confirm the words of this law by doing them.’ And all the people shall say,‘ Amen.’

Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.For where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established.For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive.Therefore not even the first covenant was inaugurated without blood.For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,saying,“ This is the blood of the covenant that God commanded for you.”

as it is written,“ I have made you the father of many nations”— in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.

even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved—

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins

for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher,

Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law.

For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory.
