We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away.

We are not like Moses. He used to cover his face with a veil. That was to keep the people of Israel from seeing the end of what was passing away.

摩西跟他们说完了话，就用面纱蒙上脸。但摩西进到耶和华面前与他说话的时候，就把面纱揭下，直到出来。摩西出来，将所吩咐他的话告诉以色列人。以色列人看见摩西的脸，他脸上的皮肤发光。摩西就用面纱蒙上脸，直到他进去与耶和华说话才揭下。

那用字刻在石头上属死的事奉尚且有荣光，以致以色列人因摩西脸上那逐渐褪色的荣光不能定睛看他的脸，

因为他自己是我们的和平，使双方合而为一，拆毁了中间隔绝的墙，而且以自己的身体终止了冤仇，废掉那记在律法上的规条，为要使两方藉着自己造成一个新人，促成了和平；

这些原是未来的事的影子，真体却是属基督的。

但这“信”还未来以前，我们被看守在律法之下，像被圈住，直到那将来的“信”显明出来。这样，律法是我们的启蒙教师，直到基督来了，好使我们因信称义。

律法的总结就是基督，使所有信他的人都得着义。

既然律法只不过是未来美好事物的影子，不是本体的真像，就不能藉着每年常献一样的祭物，使那些进前来的人完全。若不然，献祭的事岂不早已停止了吗？因为敬拜的人仅只一次洁净，良心就不再觉得有罪了。但是这些祭物使人每年都想起罪来，因为公牛和山羊的血不能除罪。所以，基督到世上来的时候，就说：“祭物和礼物不是你所要的，但你曾给我预备了身体。燔祭和赎罪祭是你不喜欢的。那时我说：看哪！我来了，我的事在经卷上已经记载了；上帝啊！我来为要照你的旨意行。”以上说：“祭物和礼物，以及燔祭和赎罪祭，不是你所要的，也不是你喜欢的。”这都是按着律法献的。他接着说：“看哪！我来了，为要照你的旨意行。”可见他除去在先的，为要立定在后的。
