We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away.

We are not like Moses. He used to cover his face with a veil. That was to keep the people of Israel from seeing the end of what was passing away.

and not like Moses who used to put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from staring at the result of the glory that was made ineffective.

摩西和他們說完了話，就用帕子蒙上自己的臉。每逢摩西進到耶和華面前與他談話的時候，就把帕子揭去，直到他出來。他出來了，就把耶和華吩咐他的對以色列人說。以色列人看見摩西的臉，見他的臉皮發光。摩西再用帕子蒙上自己的臉，直到他進去和耶和華說話為止。

如果那以文字刻在石上使人死的律法的工作，尚且帶有榮光，以致以色列人因著摩西臉上短暫的榮光，不能注視他的臉，

基督就是我們的和平：他使雙方合而為一，拆毀了隔在中間的牆，就是以自己的身體除掉雙方的仇恨，並且廢掉了律法的規條，使兩者在他裡面成為一個新人，這樣就締造了和平。

這些不過是將來的事的影子，那真體卻是屬於基督的。

但信的道理還沒有來到以前，我們在律法下被囚禁、被圍困，直到那要來的信的道理顯明出來。這樣，律法成了我們的啟蒙教師，領我們到基督那裡，使我們可以因信稱義。

因為律法的終極就是基督，使所有信的人都得著義。

律法既然是以後要來的美好事物的影子，不是本體的真象，就不能憑著每年獻同樣的祭品，使那些進前來的人得到完全。如果敬拜的人一次得潔淨，良心就不再覺得有罪，那麼，獻祭的事不是早就停止了嗎？可是那些祭品，卻使人每年都想起罪來，因為公牛和山羊的血不能把罪除去。所以，基督到世上來的時候，就說：“祭品和禮物不是你所要的，你卻為我預備了身體。燔祭和贖罪祭，不是你所喜悅的；那時我說：‘看哪！我來了，經卷上已經記載我的事，神啊！我來是要遵行你的旨意。’”前面說：“祭品和禮物，燔祭和贖罪祭，不是你所要的，也不是你所喜悅的。”這些都是按照律法獻的；接著又說：“看哪！我來了，是要遵行你的旨意。”可見他廢除那先前的，為要建立那後來的。
