I wrote for this purpose: to test your character to see if you are obedient in everything.

Another reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything.

I wrote to you for another special reason. I wanted to see if you could stand the test. I wanted to see if you could obey everything asked of you.

For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything.

I wrote to you as I did to test you and see if you would fully comply with my instructions.

In addition to our own comfort, we rejoiced even more over the joy Titus had, because his spirit was refreshed by all of you.For if I have made any boast to him about you, I have not been disappointed; but as I have spoken everything to you in truth, so our boasting to Titus has also turned out to be the truth.And his affection toward you is even greater as he remembers the obedience of all of you, and how you received him with fear and trembling.

If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take note of that person; don’t associate with him, so that he may be ashamed.

He fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your ancestors had not known, in order to humble and test you, so that in the end he might cause you to prosper.

Since I am confident of your obedience, I am writing to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say.

do not listen to that prophet’s words or to that dreamer. For the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and all your soul.
