I am not overstating it when I say that the man who caused all the trouble hurt all of you more than he hurt me.

倘有人使我憂、則不第使我憂、亦略使爾眾憂、其人我不深責、

若有人使人憂、不但使我憂、亦畧使爾眾憂、我不欲深責之、

倘有為憂戚之造因者、彼豈徒貽吾一人憂、且多少亦貽爾等憂；蓋吾言『多少』者不欲責之太過耳。

If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you to some extent— not to put it too severely.

It isn’t my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your responsibility to judge those inside the church who are sinning.God will judge those on the outside; but as the Scriptures say,“ You must remove the evil person from among you.”

Dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to live as I do in freedom from these things, for I have become like you Gentiles— free from those laws. You did not mistreat me when I first preached to you.

I can hardly believe the report about the sexual immorality going on among you— something that even pagans don’t do. I am told that a man in your church is living in sin with his stepmother.You are so proud of yourselves, but you should be mourning in sorrow and shame. And you should remove this man from your fellowship.Even though I am not with you in person, I am with you in the Spirit. And as though I were there, I have already passed judgment on this manin the name of the Lord Jesus. You must call a meeting of the church. I will be present with you in spirit, and so will the power of our Lord Jesus.Then you must throw this man out and hand him over to Satan so that his sinful nature will be destroyed and he himself will be saved on the day the Lord returns.

I am trusting the Lord to keep you from believing false teachings. God will judge that person, whoever he is, who has been confusing you.

Foolish children bring grief to their father and bitterness to the one who gave them birth.
