你要竭力在上帝面前明示自己是被試驗為可嘉的，是無愧的工人，把真理之道解析得得體。

主必援救我脫離各樣兇惡的事，也救護我進他屬天之國。願榮耀歸於他，世世無窮！阿們。

願賜平安的上帝親自使你們全然聖化；願你們的靈、心、身，當我們主耶穌基督御臨的時候、得蒙保守完整、無可責備。

我所禱告的是要你們的愛心充盈而又滿溢，滿有真認識和各樣的審察力，使你們能試驗甚麼是美好的事，好成為純潔而無過失的人，以待基督的日子，充滿了那藉着耶穌基督而有的仁義果子，使上帝得到榮耀與稱讚。

堅心忍受試煉的人是有福的；因為他既被試驗為良好，便可得着生命的華冠，就是上帝應許給愛他的人的。

在外國人中間持守你們的好為人，使他們在毁謗你們為作惡的情形下、因親眼看見了你們的好行為、便在鑒察的日子歸榮耀於上帝。

要端端正正而行，像在白晝之中，而不是在荒宴醉酒中，不是在好房事邪蕩中，也不是在紛爭妒忌中。

因為我們籌謀行為之美善，不但在主面前，也在人面前。

我歡喜我們軟弱時你們有能力而剛強。我們還祈禱：叫你們追求完全。

我不求你使他們離開世界而出來，只求你保守他們脫離那邪惡者。

領我們不進入試誘；要援救我們脫離那邪惡者。

我們乃是在各樣事上證明自己作為上帝的僕役：用大堅忍、在苦難艱難困迫中、

因為不是自己稱許的蒙試驗為可取，乃是主所稱許的才蒙試驗為可取。

因為有人說：「論他的書信倒有重量有魄力；及至身臨面對、卻是軟弱無力，說話又平淡可鄙」。

我以為上帝是把我們做使徒的顯然列為最卑賤的廢物，好像定死罪的人：我們竟成了一齣戲給宇宙看，給天使給人類看呢！我們為基督的緣故愚拙，你們在基督裏倒精明！我們軟弱，你們倒強壯！你們受尊榮，我們倒被羞辱！直到現在這一點鐘，我們還是又饑又渴、又赤身裸體、又挨拳打、飄泊無定，勞勞苦苦，親手作工；被辱罵，我們就祝福；受逼迫，我們就忍受；被讒毁，我們就和解；我們還被看為世界的垃圾、萬物的遺穢、直到現在！

為要讓被試驗為可取的人在你們中間顯明出來，你們中間總不能沒有派別的。

不要以惡報惡；眾人以為美好的、務要籌謀。

雅比斯呼求以色列的上帝說：『哦，我是多麼切願你大大賜福與我，擴張我的境界，你的手常與我同在，你能有所作為、使我不遭災害，不受痛苦啊！』上帝就使他所求的成就。
