I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:

我从前说过，如今不在你们那里又说，正如我第二次见你们的时候所说的一样，就是对那犯了罪的和其余的人说：“我若再来，必不宽容。”

我昔先言之、今雖暌違、仍先言之、如二次覿面時然、即告彼素干罪者、及其餘人、迨我復來、必不恕之、

吾先言而再言之、如與爾晤對、惟今暌違、故書達犯罪者、及眾人、余復至時、必不恕之、

我第二次與爾覿面時、已預言之、今與爾相離、復預言之、以書告彼曾犯罪者、及其餘之人云、我若復來、必不寛容、

曩者與爾晤時、予曾告諸犯罪者及其他同人、予若重來、決不有所優容。今方暌隔、亦欲一申舊命、莫謂言之不預也。

I already gave you a warning when I was with you the second time. I now repeat it while absent: On my return I will not spare those who sinned earlier or any of the others,

I already warned you during my second visit. I now say it again while I’m away. When I return, I won’t spare those who sinned earlier. I won’t spare any of the others either.

I warned those who sinned before and all the others, and I warn them now while absent, as I did when present on my second visit, that if I come again I will not spare them—

I have already warned those who had been sinning when I was there on my second visit. Now I again warn them and all others, just as I did before, that next time I will not spare them.

I gave a warning when I was present the second time, and now I give a warning while I am absent to those who sinned before and to all the rest: If I come again, I will not be lenient,

I have previously said when I was present the second time, and though now absent I say in advance to those who have sinned in the past and to all the rest as well, that if I come again I will not spare anyone,

Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.

For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.For[ his] letters, say they,[ are] weighty and powerful; but[ his] bodily presence[ is] weak, and[ his] speech contemptible.Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such[ will we be] also in deed when we are present.

Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence[ am] base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:But I beseech[ you], that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and[ that] I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest[ there be] debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:[ And] lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and[ that] I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.

But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.For the kingdom of God[ is] not in word, but in power.What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and[ in] the spirit of meekness?

Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
