For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you to be not what I wish, and may be found by you to be not what you wish; that perhaps there will be strife, jealousy, angry tempers, selfishness, slanders, gossip, arrogance, disturbances;

其实我担心，恐怕我来到的时候会发现你们不像我所希望的那样，而你们发现我也不像你们所希望的那样；又恐怕有纷争、嫉妒、暴怒、争竞、诽谤、谗言、自大和混乱；

我恐至時、見爾不副我所望、而爾見我亦不副爾所望、或有爭鬥、媢嫉、忿怒、朋黨、毀謗、隱刺、妄誇、混亂、

余恐至時、爾不能副我所望、我不能副爾所望、恐有爭鬥、媢嫉、忿怒、朋黨、毀謗、隱刺、妄誇、混亂、

我恐來時、見爾不如我所望者、爾見我亦不如爾所望者、又恐爾中有分爭、媢嫉、忿怒、結黨、毀謗、隱刺、狂傲、混亂、

蓋吾深恐爾我相見之時、爾不能副我之望、我亦不能副爾之望；又恐爾中有鬥爭、嫉妒、忿怒、樹黨、誹謗、隱刺、傲慢、紛亂等事；

For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

I’m afraid that when I come I won’t find you as I want you to be. I’m afraid that you won’t find me as you want me to be. I’m afraid there will be arguing, jealousy and fits of anger. I’m afraid each of you will focus only on getting ahead. Then you will tell lies about each other. You will talk about each other. I’m afraid you will be proud and cause trouble.

All who hate me whisper together against me; They plot my harm against me, saying,

For we rejoice when we ourselves are weak, but you are strong; this we also pray for, that you become mature.For this reason I am writing these things while absent, so that when present I need not use severity, in accordance with the authority which the Lord gave me for building up and not for tearing down.

Now these things, brothers and sisters, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos on your account, so that in us you may learn not to exceed what is written, so that no one of you will become arrogant in behalf of one against the other.For who considers you as superior? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?You are already filled, you have already become rich, you have become kings without us; and indeed, I wish that you had become kings so that we also might reign with you!

But I call God as witness to my soul, that it was to spare you that I did not come again to Corinth.Not that we domineer over your faith, but we are workers with you for your joy; for in your faith you are standing firm.But I decided this for my own sake, that I would not come to you in sorrow again.For if I cause you sorrow, who then will be the one making me glad but the one who is made sorrowful by me?This is the very thing I wrote you, so that when I came, I would not have sorrow from those who ought to make me rejoice; having confidence in you all that my joy was the joy of you all.For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears; not so that you would be made sorrowful, but that you might know the love which I have especially for you.

for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,

Now some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you.But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I shall find out, not the words of those who are arrogant, but their power.For the kingdom of God is not in words, but in power.What do you desire? That I come to you with a rod, or with love and a spirit of gentleness?

Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather suffer the wrong? Why not rather be defrauded?On the contrary, you yourselves do wrong and defraud. And this to your brothers and sisters!

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: sexual immorality, impurity, indecent behavior,idolatry, witchcraft, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions,envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

All bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice.Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.

For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present.In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus,I have decided to turn such a person over to Satan for the destruction of his body, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.

for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like ordinary people?For when one person says,“ I am with Paul,” and another,“ I am with Apollos,” are you not ordinary people?

What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is the source not your pleasures that wage war in your body’s parts?You lust and do not have, so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.You ask and do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives, so that you may spend what you request on your pleasures.You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.Or do you think that the Scripture says to no purpose,“ He jealously desires the Spirit whom He has made to dwell in us”?

Let’s not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

For if I boast somewhat more about our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for destroying you, I will not be put to shame,for I do not want to seem as if I would terrify you by my letters.

I ask that when I am present I need not be bold with the confidence with which I intend to be courageous against some, who regard us as if we walked according to the flesh.

A perverse person spreads strife, And a slanderer separates close friends.

But if anyone is inclined to be contentious, we have no such practice, nor have the churches of God.Now in giving this next instruction I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better, but for the worse.For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that divisions exist among you; and in part I believe it.For there also have to be factions among you, so that those who are approved may become evident among you.

These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.

and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.

I am afraid that when I come again my God may humiliate me before you, and I may mourn over many of those who have sinned in the past and not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality, and indecent behavior which they have practiced.

For, while speaking out arrogant words of no value they entice by fleshly desires, by indecent behavior, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error,

Or was it from you that the word of God first went out? Or has it come to you only?If anyone thinks that he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord’s commandment.

I have previously said when I was present the second time, and though now absent I say in advance to those who have sinned in the past and to all the rest as well, that if I come again I will not spare anyone,
