For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and[ that] I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest[ there be] debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

我怕我再来的时候，见你们不合我所想望的，你们见我也不合你们所想望的；又怕有纷争、嫉妒、恼怒、结党、毁谤、谗言、狂傲、混乱的事。

我恐至時、見爾不副我所望、而爾見我亦不副爾所望、或有爭鬥、媢嫉、忿怒、朋黨、毀謗、隱刺、妄誇、混亂、

余恐至時、爾不能副我所望、我不能副爾所望、恐有爭鬥、媢嫉、忿怒、朋黨、毀謗、隱刺、妄誇、混亂、

我恐來時、見爾不如我所望者、爾見我亦不如爾所望者、又恐爾中有分爭、媢嫉、忿怒、結黨、毀謗、隱刺、狂傲、混亂、

蓋吾深恐爾我相見之時、爾不能副我之望、我亦不能副爾之望；又恐爾中有鬥爭、嫉妒、忿怒、樹黨、誹謗、隱刺、傲慢、紛亂等事；

For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

I’m afraid that when I come I won’t find you as I want you to be. I’m afraid that you won’t find me as you want me to be. I’m afraid there will be arguing, jealousy and fits of anger. I’m afraid each of you will focus only on getting ahead. Then you will tell lies about each other. You will talk about each other. I’m afraid you will be proud and cause trouble.

For I fear that perhaps when I come I may find you not as I wish, and that you may find me not as you wish— that perhaps there may be quarreling, jealousy, anger, hostility, slander, gossip, conceit, and disorder.

For I am afraid that when I come I won’t like what I find, and you won’t like my response. I am afraid that I will find quarreling, jealousy, anger, selfishness, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorderly behavior.

For I fear that perhaps when I come I will not find you to be what I want, and you may not find me to be what you want. Perhaps there will be quarreling, jealousy, angry outbursts, selfish ambitions, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.

For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you to be not what I wish, and may be found by you to be not what you wish; that perhaps there will be strife, jealousy, angry tempers, selfishness, slanders, gossip, arrogance, disturbances;

For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;

For I fear, lest by any means, when I come, I should find you not such as I would, and should myself be found of you such as ye would not; lest by any means there should be strife, jealousy, wraths, factions, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults;

For I fear that perhaps when I come I will not find you to be what I want, and I may not be found by you to be what you want; there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.

For I am afraid that somehow when I come I will not find you what I wish, and you will find me not what you wish. I am afraid that somehow there may be quarreling, jealousy, intense anger, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.

For I am afraid that by any means, when I come, I might find you not the way I want to, and that I might be found by you as you don’t desire, that by any means there would be strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, whisperings, proud thoughts, or riots,

Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them[ which are of the house] of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish,[ even] your perfection.Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and[ to] Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think[ of men] above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.For who maketh thee to differ[ from another]? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive[ it], why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received[ it]?Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is[ the joy] of you all.For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.

For God is not[ the author] of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.For the kingdom of God[ is] not in word, but in power.What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and[ in] the spirit of meekness?

Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather[ suffer yourselves to] be defrauded?Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that[ your] brethren.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are[ these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told[ you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.This wisdom descendeth not from above, but[ is] earthly, sensual, devilish.For where envying and strife[ is], there[ is] confusion and every evil work.

For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present,[ concerning] him that hath so done this deed,In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

For ye are yet carnal: for whereas[ there is] among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I[ am] of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

From whence[ come] wars and fightings among you?[ come they] not hence,[ even] of your lusts that war in your members?Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume[ it] upon your lusts.Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.

But I beseech[ you], that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.Now in this that I declare[ unto you] I praise[ you] not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling[ words], having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.

And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

[ And] lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and[ that] I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.

For when they speak great swelling[ words] of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh,[ through much] wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.

What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:
