我曾慫恿提多至爾處、並遣發一兄弟與之偕、提多曾佔爾便宜乎？吾儕豈非表裏如一、心跡雙清者乎。

Thus we urged Titus that, just as he had previously begun this work, so also he should complete this act of kindness for you.

And he is also the father of the circumcised, who are not only circumcised, but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham possessed when he was still uncircumcised.

Make room for us in your hearts; we have wronged no one, we have ruined no one, we have exploited no one.

But thanks be to God who put in the heart of Titus the same devotion I have for you,because he not only accepted our request, but since he was very eager, he is coming to you of his own accord.And we are sending along with him the brother who is praised by all the churches for his work in spreading the gospel.In addition, this brother has also been chosen by the churches as our traveling companion as we administer this generous gift to the glory of the Lord himself and to show our readiness to help.We did this as a precaution so that no one should blame us in regard to this generous gift we are administering.For we are concerned about what is right not only before the Lord but also before men.And we are sending with them our brother whom we have tested many times and found eager in many matters, but who now is much more eager than ever because of the great confidence he has in you.If there is any question about Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker among you; if there is any question about our brothers, they are messengers of the churches, a glory to Christ.

I have desired no one’s silver or gold or clothing.You yourselves know that these hands of mine provided for my needs and the needs of those who were with me.By all these things, I have shown you that by working in this way we must help the weak, and remember the words of the Lord Jesus that he himself said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Now when I arrived in Troas to proclaim the gospel of Christ, even though the Lord had opened a door of opportunity for me,I had no relief in my spirit, because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I said good- bye to them and set out for Macedonia.

But God, who encourages the downhearted, encouraged us by the arrival of Titus.

Now I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be encouraged by hearing news about you.For there is no one here like him who will readily demonstrate his deep concern for you.Others are busy with their own concerns, not those of Jesus Christ.But you know his qualifications, that like a son working with his father, he served with me in advancing the gospel.

From the day that I was appointed governor in the land of Judah, that is, from the twentieth year until the thirty-second year of King Artaxerxes– twelve years in all– neither I nor my relatives ate the food allotted to the governor.

For to this you were called, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving an example for you to follow in his steps.
