Some of you admit I was not a burden to you. But others still think I was sneaky and took advantage of you by trickery.

罢了，我自己并没有累着你们，你们却有人说，我是诡诈，用心计牢笼你们。

罢了，我自己并没有连累你们，你们却有人说，我施诡诈，用心计牢笼你们。

罢了，我自己并没有连累你们，你们却有人说，我施诡诈，用心计牢笼你们。

算了！我没有拖累过你们，但居然有人说我狡猾，用诡计骗你们。

算了！我没有成为你们的重担，却是个狡猾的人，用诡计牢笼你们。

不过就算如此，我也没有成为你们的负担——难道我是狡猾的人，用诡计牢笼了你们吗？

不過就算如此，我也沒有成為你們的負擔——難道我是狡猾的人，用詭計牢籠了你們嗎？

或云我雖不累爾、而以詭計取爾、

有謗我者、言雖不累爾、而以詭計取爾、

或有人云、我雖不累爾、乃為狡詐之人、以計取爾、

或曰：正惟彼不累爾、彼蓋矯情以取信、將間接貽爾以大累耳。

Be that as it may, I have not been a burden to you. Yet, crafty fellow that I am, I caught you by trickery!

In any case, I haven’t caused you any expense. But I’m so tricky! I have caught you by tricking you! Or so you think!

But granting that I myself did not burden you, I was crafty, you say, and got the better of you by deceit.

Now granted, I did not burden you; yet sly as I am, I took you in by deceit!

But be that as it may, I did not burden you myself; nevertheless, devious person that I am, I took you in by deceit.

But be that as it may, I did not burden you. Nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you by cunning!

But be it so, I did not myself burden you; but, being crafty, I caught you with guile.

Now granted, I have not burdened you; yet sly as I am, I took you in by deceit!

But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.

But be that as it may, I have not burdened you. Yet because I was a crafty person, I took you in by deceit!

Even so, I myself didn’t burden you.“ But, being crafty, I caught you with deception.”

We can say with confidence and a clear conscience that we have lived with a God given holiness and sincerity in all our dealings. We have depended on God’s grace, not on our own human wisdom. That is how we have conducted ourselves before the world, and especially toward you.

And when I was with you and didn’t have enough to live on, I did not become a financial burden to anyone. For the brothers who came from Macedonia brought me all that I needed. I have never been a burden to you, and I never will be.As surely as the truth of Christ is in me, no one in all of Greece will ever stop me from boasting about this.

The only thing I failed to do, which I do in the other churches, was to become a financial burden to you. Please forgive me for this wrong!

Well, I am begging you now so that when I come I won’t have to be bold with those who think we act from human motives.We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do.

Never once did we try to win you with flattery, as you well know. And God is our witness that we were not pretending to be your friends just to get your money!

So you can see we were not preaching with any deceit or impure motives or trickery.

We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this.

Please open your hearts to us. We have not done wrong to anyone, nor led anyone astray, nor taken advantage of anyone.

now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.
