How were you inferior to the other churches, except that I was never a burden to you? Forgive me this wrong!

Or did I commit a sin in humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I preached to you God’s Good News free of charge?I robbed other assemblies, taking wages from them that I might serve you.When I was present with you and was in need, I wasn’t a burden on anyone, for the brothers, when they came from Macedonia, supplied the measure of my need. In everything I kept myself from being burdensome to you, and I will continue to do so.

Behold, this is the third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be a burden to you; for I seek not your possessions, but you. For the children ought not to save up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

But I have used none of these things, and I don’t write these things that it may be done so in my case; for I would rather die, than that anyone should make my boasting void.For if I preach the Good News, I have nothing to boast about; for necessity is laid on me; but woe is to me if I don’t preach the Good News.For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward. But if not of my own will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me.What then is my reward? That when I preach the Good News, I may present the Good News of Christ without charge, so as not to abuse my authority in the Good News.
