如果別人在你們身上享有這種權利，我們不是更可以享有嗎？然而我們沒有用過這種權利，反而凡事容忍，免得我們攔阻了基督的福音。

難道只有我和巴拿巴沒有權利不作工嗎？

我貶低自己，使你們高升，把神的福音白白地傳給你們，我這樣是犯罪嗎？我為了服事你們，就接受了別的教會的供應，也可以說是剝削了他們。我在你們那裡有缺乏的時候，並沒有連累任何人，因為從馬其頓來的弟兄們，補足了我的缺乏。我在各方面都不讓自己成為你們的重擔，將來也是一樣。

好了，我打算第三次到你們那裡去，這一次也不會成為你們的重擔，因為我所要的不是你們的東西，而是你們自己。兒女不需要為父母積財，父母卻應該為兒女積財。

但這種權利，我一點也沒有用過。我寫這些話，並不是想叫人這樣待我，因為我寧可死，也不讓人使我所誇耀的落了空。我傳福音原是沒有可誇的，因我不能不傳。如果不傳福音，我就有禍了。如果我甘心作這事，就有賞賜；即使不甘心，這職責還是託付我了。那麼，我的賞賜是甚麼呢？就是我傳福音時，叫人免費得著福音。這樣，我就沒有用過傳福音可以享有的權利了。
