But on the following night, the Lord stood near him and said,“ Be courageous! For as you have testified to the truth about Me in Jerusalem, so you must testify in Rome also.”

I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, there was a man dressed in linen, whose waist had a belt of pure gold of Uphaz.His body also was like topaz, his face had the appearance of lightning, his eyes were like flaming torches, his arms and feet like the gleam of polished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a multitude.Now I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, while the men who were with me did not see the vision; nevertheless, a great fear fell on them, and they ran away to hide themselves.So I was left alone and saw this great vision; yet no strength was left in me, for my complexion turned to a deathly pallor, and I retained no strength.But I heard the sound of his words; and as soon as I heard the sound of his words, I fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground.Then behold, a hand touched me and shook me on my hands and knees.

I give my opinion in this matter, for this is to your advantage, who were the first to begin a year ago not only to do this, but also to desire to do it.

And the Spirit lifted me up and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God to Chaldea, to the exiles. Then the vision that I had seen left me.

And the Lord said to Paul by a vision at night,“ Do not be afraid any longer, but go on speaking and do not be silent;

It was because of a revelation that I went up; and I submitted to them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but I did so in private to those who were of reputation, for fear that somehow I might be running, or had run, in vain.

So am I.Are they servants of Christ?— I am speaking as if insane— I more so; in far more labors, in far more imprisonments, beaten times without number, often in danger of death.Five times I received from the Jews thirty nine lashes.Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent adrift at sea.I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my countrymen, dangers from the Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, dangers among false brothers;I have been in labor and hardship, through many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure.Apart from such external things, there is the daily pressure on me of concern for all the churches.Who is weak without my being weak? Who is led into sin without my intense concern?If I have to boast, I will boast of what pertains to my weakness.

“ It happened when I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, that I fell into a trance,and I saw Him saying to me,‘ Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about Me.’And I said,‘ Lord, they themselves understand that in one synagogue after another I used to imprison and beat those who believed in You.And when the blood of Your witness Stephen was being shed, I also was standing nearby and approving, and watching over the cloaks of those who were killing him.’And He said to me,‘ Go! For I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’ ”

But I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I am leaving; for if I do not leave, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.

And this was their appearance: they had human form.Each of them had four faces and four wings.Their legs were straight and their feet were like a calf’s hoof, and they sparkled like polished bronze.Under their wings on their four sides were human hands. As for the faces and wings of the four of them,their wings touched one another; their faces did not turn when they moved, each went straight forward.As for the form of their faces, each had a human face; all four had the face of a lion on the right and the face of a bull on the left, and all four had the face of an eagle.Such were their faces. Their wings were spread out above; each had two touching another being, and two covering their bodies.And each went straight forward; wherever the spirit was about to go, they would go, without turning as they went.In the midst of the living beings there was something that looked like burning coals of fire, like torches moving among the living beings. The fire was bright, and lightning was flashing from the fire.And the living beings ran back and forth like bolts of lightning.Now as I looked at the living beings, behold, there was one wheel on the ground beside the living beings, for each of the four of them.The appearance of the wheels and their workmanship was like sparkling topaz, and all four of them had the same form, their appearance and workmanship being as if one wheel were within another.Whenever they moved, they moved in any of their four directions without turning as they moved.As for their rims, they were high and awesome, and the rims of all four of them were covered with eyes all around.Whenever the living beings moved, the wheels moved with them. And whenever the living beings rose from the earth, the wheels rose also.Wherever the spirit was about to go, they would go in that direction. And the wheels rose just as they did; for the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels.Whenever those went, they went; and whenever those stopped, they stopped. And whenever those rose from the earth, the wheels rose just as they did; for the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels.Now over the heads of the living beings there was something like an expanse, like the awesome gleam of crystal, spread out over their heads.Under the expanse their wings were stretched out straight, one toward the other; each one also had two wings covering its body on the one side and on the other.And I also heard the sound of their wings, like the sound of abundant waters as they went, like the voice of the Almighty, a sound of a crowd like the sound of an army camp; whenever they stopped, they let down their wings.And a voice came from above the expanse that was over their heads; whenever they stood still, they let down their wings.Now above the expanse that was over their heads there was something resembling a throne, like lapis lazuli in appearance; and on that which resembled a throne, high up, was a figure with the appearance of a man.Then I noticed from the appearance of His waist and upward something like gleaming metal that looked like fire all around within it, and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw something like fire; and there was a radiance around Him.Like the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking.

All things are permitted for me, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.

that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before briefly.
