I looked up, and there was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of gold from Uphaz around his waist.His body was like beryl, his face like the brilliance of lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and feet like the gleam of polished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a multitude.Only I, Daniel, saw the vision. The men who were with me did not see it, but a great terror fell on them, and they ran and hid.I was left alone, looking at this great vision. No strength was left in me; my face grew deathly pale, and I was powerless.I heard the words he said, and when I heard them I fell into a deep sleep, with my face to the ground.Suddenly, a hand touched me and set me shaking on my hands and knees.

And in this matter I am giving advice because it is profitable for you, who began last year not only to do something but also to want to do it.

He placed his hands on him and said,“ Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road you were traveling, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

The Spirit lifted me up and brought me to Chaldea and to the exiles in a vision from the Spirit of God. After the vision I had seen left me,

The Lord said to Paul in a night vision,“ Don’t be afraid, but keep on speaking and don’t be silent.

I went up according to a revelation and presented to them the gospel I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those recognized as leaders. I wanted to be sure I was not running, and had not been running, in vain.

I’m talking like a madman— I’m a better one: with far more labors, many more imprisonments, far worse beatings, many times near death.Five times I received the forty lashes minus one from the Jews.Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I received a stoning. Three times I was shipwrecked. I have spent a night and a day in the open sea.On frequent journeys, I faced dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my own people, dangers from Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, and dangers among false brothers;toil and hardship, many sleepless nights, hunger and thirst, often without food, cold, and without clothing.Not to mention other things, there is the daily pressure on me: my concern for all the churches.Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to stumble, and I do not burn with indignation?If boasting is necessary, I will boast about my weaknesses.

“ After I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, I fell into a tranceand saw him telling me,‘ Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’“ But I said,‘ Lord, they know that in synagogue after synagogue I had those who believed in you imprisoned and beaten.And when the blood of your witness Stephen was being shed, I stood there giving approval and guarding the clothes of those who killed him.’“ He said to me,‘ Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”

Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth. It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send him to you.

King Agrippa, while on the road at midday, I saw a light from heaven brighter than the sun, shining around me and those traveling with me.We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice speaking to me in Aramaic,‘ Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’“ I asked,‘ Who are you, Lord?’“ And the Lord replied,‘ I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting.But get up and stand on your feet. For I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and a witness of what you have seen and will see of me.I will rescue you from your people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to themto open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’“ So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision.

The LORD’s hand was on him there.I looked, and there was a whirlwind coming from the north, a huge cloud with fire flashing back and forth and brilliant light all around it. In the center of the fire, there was a gleam like amber.The likeness of four living creatures came from it, and this was their appearance: They looked something like a human,but each of them had four faces and four wings.Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the hooves of a calf, sparkling like the gleam of polished bronze.They had human hands under their wings on their four sides. All four of them had faces and wings.Their wings were touching. The creatures did not turn as they moved; each one went straight ahead.Their faces looked something like the face of a human, and each of the four had the face of a lion on the right, the face of an ox on the left, and the face of an eagle.That is what their faces were like. Their wings were spread upward; each had two wings touching that of another and two wings covering its body.Each creature went straight ahead. Wherever the Spirit wanted to go, they went without turning as they moved.The likeness of the living creatures was like the appearance of blazing coals of fire or like torches. Fire was moving back and forth between the living creatures; it was bright, with lightning coming out of it.The creatures were darting back and forth like flashes of lightning.When I looked at the living creatures, there was one wheel on the ground beside each of the four-faced creatures.The appearance of the wheels and their craftsmanship was like the gleam of beryl, and all four had the same likeness. Their appearance and craftsmanship was like a wheel within a wheel.When they moved, they went in any of the four directions, without turning as they moved.Their four rims were tall and awe-inspiring, completely covered with eyes.When the living creatures moved, the wheels moved beside them, and when the creatures rose from the earth, the wheels also rose.Wherever the Spirit wanted to go, the creatures went in the direction the Spirit was moving. The wheels rose alongside them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.When the creatures moved, the wheels moved; when the creatures stopped, the wheels stopped; and when the creatures rose from the earth, the wheels rose alongside them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.Over the heads of the living creatures the likeness of an expanse was spread out. It gleamed like awe-inspiring crystal,and under the expanse their wings extended one toward another. They each also had two wings covering their bodies.When they moved, I heard the sound of their wings like the roar of a huge torrent, like the voice of the Almighty, and a sound of tumult like the noise of an army. When they stopped, they lowered their wings.A voice came from above the expanse over their heads; when they stopped, they lowered their wings.Something like a throne with the appearance of lapis lazuli was above the expanse over their heads. On the throne, high above, was someone who looked like a human.From what seemed to be his waist up, I saw a gleam like amber, with what looked like fire enclosing it all around. From what seemed to be his waist down, I also saw what looked like fire. There was a brilliant light all around him.The appearance of the brilliant light all around was like that of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day. This was the appearance of the likeness of the LORD’s glory. When I saw it, I fell facedown and heard a voice speaking.

The mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have briefly written above.
