If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.

我若必须自夸，就夸那关乎我软弱的事便了。

If I have to brag, I will brag about the things that show how weak I am.

If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.

If I must boast, I would rather boast about the things that show how weak I am.

If boasting is necessary, I will boast about my weaknesses.

Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.But he said to me,“ My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.I have made a fool of myself, but you drove me to it. I ought to have been commended by you, for I am not in the least inferior to the“ super-apostles,” even though I am nothing.

I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord.

It is not good to eat too much honey, nor is it honorable to search out matters that are too deep.

I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling.

This is what the Lord says:“ Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches,but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.

I repeat: Let no one take me for a fool. But if you do, then tolerate me just as you would a fool, so that I may do a little boasting.In this self-confident boasting I am not talking as the Lord would, but as a fool.Since many are boasting in the way the world does, I too will boast.

Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips.

Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.
