蓋我為天主之故、熱中於爾、甚至有患得患失之情緒。吾既將爾許配良人、固願爾好自保持貞節、克配基督。

I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.

My jealousy for you comes from God himself. I promised to give you to only one husband. That husband is Christ. I wanted to be able to give you to him as if you were a pure virgin.

For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.

For I am jealous for you with the jealousy of God himself. I promised you as a pure bride to one husband— Christ.

The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands by and listens for him, rejoices greatly when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. This then is my joy, and it is complete.

For though you may have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, because I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

Listen, O princess! Observe and pay attention! Forget your homeland and your family!Then the king will be attracted by your beauty. After all, he is your master! Submit to him!

We do so because we know that the one who raised up Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus and will bring us with you into his presence.

So Abraham’s servant took Rebekah and left.Now Isaac came from Beer Lahai Roi, for he was living in the Negev.He went out to relax in the field in the early evening. Then he looked up and saw that there were camels approaching.Rebekah looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her cameland asked Abraham’s servant,“ Who is that man walking in the field toward us?”“ That is my master,” the servant replied. So she took her veil and covered herself.The servant told Isaac everything that had happened.Then Isaac brought Rebekah into his mother Sarah’s tent. He took her as his wife and loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.

I fear for you that my work for you may have been in vain.
