We are not going too far in our boasting, as would be the case if we had not come to you, for we did get as far as you with the gospel of Christ.

I am not going too far in my bragging. I would be going too far if I hadn’t come to where you live. But I did get there with the good news about Christ.

For we are not overextending ourselves, as though we did not reach you. For we were the first to come all the way to you with the gospel of Christ.

We are not reaching beyond these boundaries when we claim authority over you, as if we had never visited you. For we were the first to travel all the way to Corinth with the Good News of Christ.

爾在同道中儘有千萬之導師、第愛爾以父母之愛者、恐亦不可多得耳。夫以福音之道使爾等因基督而得神生者、非我也耶？

惟吾人則知之、因天主恆以聖神啟迪吾衷也。聖神洞徹萬事、即天主之堂奧亦無所不窺。

是日也、天主將以耶穌基督審判人之隱私、如我福音所言也。

予非自由之人乎？予非宗徒乎？予豈未見吾主耶穌基督乎？爾曹之依主也、又非予之功績乎？即於他人為非宗徒、於爾曹予固宗徒也。蓋爾曹之歸主、即吾為宗徒之佐證、

以及其他違悖正道者而設也。正道者何、即全德天主光榮之福音是已；而予則受斯重寄焉。

曩者吾曾至特羅亞傳基督福音。托主之力、門戶洞開；

惟天主能堅定爾等信心、使爾等與我所傳之福音及耶穌基督之聖道中、能確立不搖。斯道也、即有世以來所蘊藏之玄妙、

蓋斯世之君、已矇不信者之心、以致基督榮耀福音之真光、亦無由照入；而基督固天主之肖影也。

蓋吾不以福音為恥也。福音乃天主之神力、用以救度信徒、始于猶太、爰及希臘。

天主聖子耶穌基督福音之濫觴、

然吾於生命置之度外、無所顧惜。但望能完成吾之行程、及所受於主耶穌之使命、以證天主恩寵之福音而已。

曩者爾等因基督之聖寵、而蒙天主之恩召；曾幾何時、爾等竟已背棄所天、而信從另一福音、此吾之所為驚訝不置者也。夫福音豈有二哉？特有人予爾攪亂、而欲混淆基督之福音耳。雖然、即在吾儕本人、或自天降臨之天神、苟其所傳於爾之福音、有異乎吾儕嚮所傳授者、皆宜服咒咀也。

天主賜我以聖寵、得充大匠、而奠其基；惟在基上建築其房屋者、固另有人在；但望其人善為建築而已、

以篤永望；此望也、爾等於福音之真傳中、夙已聞之、且為爾等預儲於天矣。

吾儕豈復自薦乎？抑吾儕尚須求人之薦書與爾、或爾之薦書與人、如他人之所為乎？爾等本身、即為吾儕之薦書、銘諸吾儕之心、而為萬人所閱讀者也。爾等明明為基督之書札、而吾儕供書記之役焉。此書也、非以楮墨寫成、乃以永生天主之聖神；非鐫於碑石、而鐫於人心者也。

然吾亦何敢自誇；吾之所以能使異邦人歸化者、實由基督躬自成之、惟假吾之手而已。或以言語、或以行為、或以聖蹟、異能、何一非聖神之妙工乎？吾傳基督福音、足跡已遍耶路撒冷及其周圍之地、直達伊利利亞。

夫亞波羅何人耶？葆樂何人耶？不過天主之僕、銜主之命、各盡其能、以使爾等信奉真道者耳。我種植之、亞波羅從而灌溉之；而使其發榮滋長者、則天主也。
