因為我怕到你們那裡的時候，我對你們的期望會落空，而你們對我也大失所望。我怕你們當中有紛爭、嫉妒、惱怒、仇恨、毀謗、閒話、狂傲和混亂。

我第二次去探望你們的時候已經警告過了，如今我雖然不在你們那裡，但仍要再次警告那些犯罪的人以及其餘的人：我再來的時候，必不寬容。既然你們要我證明是基督藉著我說話，那麼你們當知道，基督處理你們這類的事絕不軟弱，祂在你們當中充滿力量。

我寫這封信是預先警告你們，免得我到你們當中的時候，必須運用基督給我的權柄嚴厲地對待你們。基督賜給我這權柄是為了造就人，不是毀壞人。
