Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, just as you are in fact doing.

“ Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God.

Therefore, strengthen your listless hands and your weak knees,

Then I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever–

You are my hiding place; you protect me from distress. You surround me with shouts of joy from those celebrating deliverance.( Selah)

I will boast in the LORD; let the oppressed hear and rejoice!Magnify the LORD with me! Let’s praise his name together!I sought the LORD’s help and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.Those who look to him for help are happy; their faces are not ashamed.This oppressed man cried out and the LORD heard; he saved him from all his troubles.

At that time you will say:“ I praise you, O LORD, for even though you were angry with me, your anger subsided, and you consoled me.

Come! Listen, all you who are loyal to God! I will declare what he has done for me.

For this is what the LORD says:“ Look, I am ready to extend to her prosperity that will flow like a river, the riches of nations will flow into her like a stream that floods its banks. You will nurse from her breast and be carried at her side; you will play on her knees.As a mother consoles a child, so I will console you, and you will be consoled over Jerusalem.”When you see this, you will be happy, and you will be revived. The LORD will reveal his power to his servants and his anger to his enemies.

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and will cause you to remember everything I said to you.

Then I confessed my sin; I no longer covered up my wrongdoing. I said,“ I will confess my rebellious acts to the LORD.” And then you forgave my sins.( Selah)

“ I will not abandon you as orphans, I will come to you.

In unison give a joyful shout, O ruins of Jerusalem! For the LORD consoles his people; he protects Jerusalem.

For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow toward us, so also our comfort through Christ overflows to you.But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort that you experience in your patient endurance of the same sufferings that we also suffer.

Therefore we have been encouraged. And in addition to our own encouragement, we rejoiced even more at the joy of Titus, because all of you have refreshed his spirit.

Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Certainly the LORD will console Zion; he will console all her ruins. He will make her wilderness like Eden, her desert like the Garden of the LORD. Happiness and joy will be restored to her, thanksgiving and the sound of music.

and most of the brothers and sisters, having confidence in the Lord because of my imprisonment, now more than ever dare to speak the word fearlessly.

They will not be hungry or thirsty; the sun’s oppressive heat will not beat down on them, for one who has compassion on them will guide them; he will lead them to springs of water.

Show me evidence of your favor! Then those who hate me will see it and be ashamed, for you, O LORD, will help me and comfort me.
