Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, because it is by faith you stand firm.

Your faith is not under our control. You remain strong in your own faith. But we work together with you for your joy.

through whom we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of God’s glory.

that is, that we may be mutually comforted by one another’s faith, both yours and mine.

Stand firm therefore, by fastening the belt of truth around your waist, by putting on the breastplate of righteousness,by fitting your feet with the preparation that comes from the good news of peace,and in all of this, by taking up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
