Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, because it is by faith you stand firm.

Your faith is not under our control. You remain strong in your own faith. But we work together with you for your joy.

But that does not mean we want to dominate you by telling you how to put your faith into practice. We want to work together with you so you will be full of joy, for it is by your own faith that you stand firm.

Who then is Paul, and who[ is] Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

And shall begin to smite[ his] fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all[ men], apt to teach, patient,In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;And[ that] they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.

But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is[ the joy] of you all.

For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
