The priests took their positions, as did the Levites with the Lord’s musical instruments, which King David had made for praising the Lord and which were used when he gave thanks, saying,“ His love endures forever.” Opposite the Levites, the priests blew their trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing.

The priests and Levites took their positions. The Levites played the Lord’ s musical instruments. King David had made them for praising the Lord. They were used when he gave thanks to the Lord. He said,“ His faithful love continues forever.” Across from where the Levites were, the priests blew their trumpets. All the people of Israel were standing.

The priests stood at their posts; the Levites also, with the instruments for music to the Lord that King David had made for giving thanks to the Lord— for his steadfast love endures forever— whenever David offered praises by their ministry; opposite them the priests sounded trumpets, and all Israel stood.

The priests stood in their assigned spots, along with the Levites who had the musical instruments used for praising the LORD.( These were the ones King David made for giving thanks to the LORD and which were used by David when he offered praise, saying,“ Certainly his loyal love endures.”) Opposite the Levites, the priests were blowing the trumpets, while all Israel stood there.

The priests stood, according to their positions; the Levites also with instruments of music of Yahweh, which David the king had made to give thanks to Yahweh, when David praised by their ministry, saying“ For his loving kindness endures forever.” The priests sounded trumpets before them; and all Israel stood.

All the Levites who were musicians— Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives— stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets.

When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying,“ He is good; his love endures forever.”

David told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their fellow Levites as musicians to make a joyful sound with musical instruments: lyres, harps and cymbals.So the Levites appointed Heman son of Joel; from his relatives, Asaph son of Berekiah; and from their relatives the Merarites, Ethan son of Kushaiah;and with them their relatives next in rank: Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.The musicians Heman, Asaph and Ethan were to sound the bronze cymbals;Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah and Benaiah were to play the lyres according to alamoth,and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel and Azaziah were to play the harps, directing according to sheminith.

As they make music they will sing,“ All my fountains are in you.”

David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, timbrels, cymbals and trumpets.

These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of the Lord after the ark came to rest there.They ministered with music before the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, until Solomon built the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem. They performed their duties according to the regulations laid down for them.

He appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord, to extol, thank, and praise the Lord, the God of Israel:Asaph was the chief, and next to him in rank were Zechariah, then Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed- Edom and Jeiel. They were to play the lyres and harps, Asaph was to sound the cymbals,and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow the trumpets regularly before the ark of the covenant of God.

David left Zadok the priest and his fellow priests before the tabernacle of the Lord at the high place in Gibeonto present burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of burnt offering regularly, morning and evening, in accordance with everything written in the Law of the Lord, which he had given Israel.With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the Lord,“ for his love endures forever.”Heman and Jeduthun were responsible for the sounding of the trumpets and cymbals and for the playing of the other instruments for sacred song. The sons of Jeduthun were stationed at the gate.

These were the divisions of the descendants of Aaron: The sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.But Nadab and Abihu died before their father did, and they had no sons; so Eleazar and Ithamar served as the priests.With the help of Zadok a descendant of Eleazar and Ahimelek a descendant of Ithamar, David separated them into divisions for their appointed order of ministering.

The Lord said to Moses:“ Make two trumpets of hammered silver, and use them for calling the community together and for having the camps set out.When both are sounded, the whole community is to assemble before you at the entrance to the tent of meeting.If only one is sounded, the leaders— the heads of the clans of Israel— are to assemble before you.When a trumpet blast is sounded, the tribes camping on the east are to set out.At the sounding of a second blast, the camps on the south are to set out. The blast will be the signal for setting out.To gather the assembly, blow the trumpets, but not with the signal for setting out.“ The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to blow the trumpets. This is to be a lasting ordinance for you and the generations to come.When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies.Also at your times of rejoicing— your appointed festivals and New Moon feasts— you are to sound the trumpets over your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, and they will be a memorial for you before your God. I am the Lord your God.”

The Lord will vindicate me; your love, Lord, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands.

Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets.

Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah and Eliezer the priests were to blow trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-Edom and Jehiah were also to be doorkeepers for the ark.

You strum away on your harps like David and improvise on musical instruments.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Therefore my people will know my name; therefore in that day they will know that it is I who foretold it. Yes, it is I.”

David, together with the commanders of the army, set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying, accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals. Here is the list of the men who performed this service:From the sons of Asaph: Zakkur, Joseph, Nethaniah and Asarelah. The sons of Asaph were under the supervision of Asaph, who prophesied under the king’s supervision.As for Jeduthun, from his sons: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah and Mattithiah, six in all, under the supervision of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied, using the harp in thanking and praising the Lord.As for Heman, from his sons: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael and Jerimoth; Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti-Ezer; Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir and Mahazioth.( All these were sons of Heman the king’s seer. They were given him through the promises of God to exalt him. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.)All these men were under the supervision of their father for the music of the temple of the Lord, with cymbals, lyres and harps, for the ministry at the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman were under the supervision of the king.Along with their relatives— all of them trained and skilled in music for the Lord— they numbered 288.

He stationed the Levites in the temple of the Lord with cymbals, harps and lyres in the way prescribed by David and Gad the king’s seer and Nathan the prophet; this was commanded by the Lord through his prophets.
