And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy[ endureth] for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.

The priests took their positions, as did the Levites with the Lord’s musical instruments, which King David had made for praising the Lord and which were used when he gave thanks, saying,“ His love endures forever.” Opposite the Levites, the priests blew their trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing.

Also the Levites[ which were] the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren,[ being] arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:)

And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD,[ saying], For[ he is] good; for his mercy[ endureth] for ever.

And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren[ to be] the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;And with them their brethren of the second[ degree], Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, the porters.So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan,[ were appointed] to sound with cymbals of brass;And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth;And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel.

As well the singers as the players on instruments[ shall be there]: all my springs[ are] in thee.

And David and all Israel played before God with all[ their] might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

And these[ are they] whom David set over the service of song in the house of the LORD, after that the ark had rest.And they ministered before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem: and[ then] they waited on their office according to their order.

And he appointed[ certain] of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that[ was] at Gibeon,To offer burnt offerings unto the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and[ to do] according to all that is written in the law of the LORD, which he commanded Israel;And with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because his mercy[ endureth] for ever;And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun[ were] porters.

Now[ these are] the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest’s office.And David distributed them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their offices in their service.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps.And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.And if they blow[ but] with one[ trumpet], then the princes,[ which are] heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee.When ye blow an alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go forward.When ye blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys.But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm.And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations.And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I[ am] the LORD your God.

The LORD will perfect[ that which] concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD,[ endureth] for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obededom and Jehiah[ were] doorkeepers for the ark.

That chant to the sound of the viol,[ and] invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David;

O give thanks unto the LORD, for[ he is] good: for his mercy[ endureth] for ever.

Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore[ they shall know] in that day that I[ am] he that doth speak: behold,[ it is] I.

Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was:Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king.Of Jeduthun: the sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD.Of Heman: the sons of Heman; Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir,[ and] Mahazioth:All these[ were] the sons of Heman the king’s seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.All these[ were] under the hands of their father for song[ in] the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king’s order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.So the number of them, with their brethren that were instructed in the songs of the LORD,[ even] all that were cunning, was two hundred fourscore and eight.

And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet: for[ so was] the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.
