This house, which is so high, everyone who passes by it shall be astonished, and shall say,‘ Why has Yahweh done this to this land and to this house?’

这殿虽然甚高，将来经过的人必惊讶说：‘耶和华为何向这地和这殿如此行呢？’

这殿虽然崇高，将来凡经过的人必惊讶说：‘耶和华为何向这地和这殿如此行呢？’

这殿虽然崇高，将来凡经过的人必惊讶说：‘耶和华为何向这地和这殿如此行呢？’

这殿虽然宏伟，但将来经过的人必惊讶地问，‘耶和华为什么这样对待这地方和这殿呢？’

这殿虽然高大，但将来经过的人，都必惊讶，说：‘耶和华为什么这样对待这地和这殿呢？’

這殿雖然宏偉，但將來經過的人必驚訝地問，『耶和華為什麼這樣對待這地方和這殿呢？』

這殿雖然高大，但將來經過的人，都必驚訝，說：‘耶和華為甚麼這樣對待這地和這殿呢？’

對這座這麼高聳的殿、凡從這裏經過的人、個個都必驚訝着說：「永恆主為甚麼向這地和這殿這樣辦呢？」

此室雖高、凡過之者、必駭異曰、耶和華曷如是待此地此室乎、

凡過此有名之殿宇、必駭異、如有詢及者曰、耶和華燬此殿、害此國也、曷故。

此殿今雖崇高、凡過之者必驚訝問曰、主如是行於斯地與斯殿何故、

This temple will become a heap of rubble. All who pass by will be appalled and say,‘ Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’

This temple will become a pile of stones. All those who pass by it will be shocked. They will say,‘ Why has the Lord done a thing like this to this land and temple?’

And at this house, which was exalted, everyone passing by will be astonished and say,‘ Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’

And though this Temple is impressive now, all who pass by will be appalled. They will ask,‘ Why did the Lord do such terrible things to this land and to this Temple?’

As for this temple, which was exalted, everyone who passes by will be appalled and will say,“ Why did the LORD do this to this land and this temple?”

As for this house, which was exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say,‘ Why has the Lord done these things to this land and to this house?’

“ And as for this house, which is exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say,‘ Why has the Lord done thus to this land and this house?’

And this house, which is so high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall say, Why hath Jehovah done thus unto this land, and to this house?

As for this temple, which was exalted, everyone who passes by will be appalled and will say: Why did the Lord do this to this land and this temple?

And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house?

As for this temple, which was once majestic, everyone who passes by it will be shocked and say,‘ Why did the LORD do this to this land and this temple?’

“ Many nations will pass by this city, and they will each ask his neighbor,‘ Why has Yahweh done this to this great city?’Then they will answer,‘ Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh their God, worshiped other gods, and served them.’”

I will make this city an astonishment and a hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues.

It will happen, when you tell this people all these words, and they ask you,‘ Why has Yahweh pronounced all this great evil against us?’ or‘ What is our iniquity? or‘ What is our sin that we have committed against Yahweh our God?’then you shall tell them,‘ Because your fathers have forsaken me,’ says Yahweh,‘ and have walked after other gods, have served them, have worshiped them, have forsaken me, and have not kept my law.You have done evil more than your fathers, for behold, you each walk after the stubbornness of his evil heart, so that you don’t listen to me.

“ Edom will become an astonishment. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished, and will hiss at all its plagues.

Even all the nations will say,“ Why has Yahweh done this to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?”Then men will say,“ Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt,and went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods that they didn’t know and that he had not given to them.Therefore Yahweh’s anger burned against this land, to bring on it all the curses that are written in this book.Yahweh rooted them out of their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and thrust them into another land, as it is today.”

Because of Yahweh’s wrath she won’t be inhabited, but she will be wholly desolate. Everyone who goes by Babylon will be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.

Therefore Yahweh’s wrath was on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has delivered them to be tossed back and forth, to be an astonishment, and a hissing, as you see with your eyes.

It will happen, when you say,‘ Why has Yahweh our God done all these things to us?’ Then you shall say to them,‘ Just as you have forsaken me, and served foreign gods in your land, so you will serve strangers in a land that is not yours.’

Though this house is so high, yet everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss; and they will say,‘ Why has Yahweh done this to this land, and to this house?’and they will answer,‘ Because they abandoned Yahweh their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and embraced other gods, and worshiped them, and served them. Therefore Yahweh has brought all this evil on them.’”

Is this man Coniah a despised broken vessel? Is he a vessel in which no one delights? Why are they cast out, he and his offspring, and cast into a land which they don’t know?

If you say in your heart,“ Why have these things come on me?” Your skirts are uncovered because of the greatness of your iniquity, and your heels suffer violence.
