and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name;

永恆主發神諭說：『如今雖如此，你們還要全心全意來歸向我，以禁食哀哭及號咷來返回。你們要撕裂的是心，倒不是衣服。』要回歸永恆主你們的上帝；因為他有恩惠有憐憫，他不輕易發怒，而有豐盛的堅愛，他並且能改變心意、不降災禍。

以色列啊，你要回歸永恆主你的上帝，因為你是因你自己的罪孽而傾覆的。要帶着懺悔的話來回歸永恆主！對他說：『赦除一切罪孽哦！悅納善行哦！』那我們就獻上我們嘴脣之果實了。亞述不能拯救我們，駿馬我們必不再騎上；我們的手所造的我們必不再稱為「我們的上帝」，因為只有在你裏面孤兒得以找到憐憫。我必醫治他們的背道；我必甘心樂意地愛他們，因為我的怒氣已向他們轉消。

我便以禁食麻布爐灰咬緊牙根而向主上帝尋求、禱告、懇求。我向永恆主我的上帝祈禱認罪，說：『哦，主啊，至大、至可畏懼的上帝啊，向愛你守你誡命的人守約守堅愛的啊，

你們要呼求我，要來禱告我，我就聽你們。你們要尋求我、而尋見；你們若全心地尋找我，我就給你們找着，永恆主發神諭說；我必恢復你們的故業，將你們從各國和我所放逐你們到的各地方招集了來，將你們帶回我使你們開始流亡時所離開的地方：這是永恆主發神諭說的。

但以理呢、雖明知有詔書經已簽蓋，他仍進入自己房屋——這房屋在房頂屋子裏、有窗戶開着、向着耶路撒冷——但以理仍然一日三次雙膝跪下、在他的上帝面前禱告稱謝，全照前此所作的。

你和你子孫若全心全意歸向永恆主你的上帝，聽他的聲音，照我今日所吩咐你的一切話，那麼永恆主你的上帝就必使你恢復故業，就必憐憫你，將你從永恆主你的上帝分散你到的萬族之民中再招集回來。你被趕散的人就使在天邊，永恆主你的上帝也必從那裏將你招集回來，從那裏將你帶來。永恆主你的上帝必領你進你列祖所取得的地，使你取得它；他必使你得好處，人數增多、勝過你列祖。永恆主你的上帝必給你的心和你後裔的心行割禮，使你全心全意愛永恆主你的上帝，使你得以活着，

因此永恆主使亞述王的將軍來攻擊他們，用鐃鈎鈎住瑪拿西，用銅鍊鎖着他，將他帶到巴比倫去。他在急難時候、求永恆主他的上帝的情面，並且在他列祖的上帝面前非常謙卑。他禱告永恆主，永恆主就應允他所懇求的，垂聽他的求恩，使他返回耶路撒冷，仍坐他的王位。瑪拿西這才知道惟獨永恆主乃是上帝。
