and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name;

And they turn back to you with all their heart and soul. Suppose it happens in the land where they were taken as prisoners. There they pray toward the land you gave their people long ago. They pray toward the city you have chosen. And they pray toward the temple I’ve built for your Name.

耶和華說：“現在雖然如此，你們仍要全心全意，以禁食、哭泣、哀號，歸向我。”你們要撕裂你們的心腸，不要撕裂你們的衣服。並要歸向耶和華你們的神，因為他有恩典有憐憫，不輕易發怒，並且有豐盛的慈愛，隨時轉意不降災禍。

於是我轉向主神，禁食，披麻蒙灰，藉祈禱和懇求尋求他。我向耶和華我的神禱告、認罪，說：“主啊！偉大可畏的神，你向那些愛你（“你”原文作“他”），遵守你（“你”原文作“他”）誡命的人守約施慈愛。

‘你們要呼求我，要來向我禱告，我就必應允你們。你們要尋找我，只要一心尋求，就必尋見。我必給你們尋見（這是耶和華的宣告）；我必使你們被擄的歸回，從我趕逐你們去的各國各地，把你們集合起來，帶回我擄你們離開的地方去。’這是耶和華的宣告。

但以理知道這文告簽署了以後，就上到自己家裡樓頂上的房間，這房間的窗戶朝向耶路撒冷開著；他一日三次雙膝跪下，在他的神面前禱告稱謝，像往日一樣。

你和你的子孫必一心一意歸向耶和華你的神，照著我今日吩咐你的一切聽從他的話。那時，耶和華你的神就必使你這被擄的人回歸，他必憐憫你；耶和華你的神必從你被分散到的萬民中，把你再召集回來。你被趕逐的人，就是在天涯海角，耶和華你的神也必從那裡把你召集回來，從那裡把你帶回。耶和華你的神必領你進入你列祖所得之地，使你可以得著這地；他必善待你，他也必使你的人數增多，勝過你的列祖。耶和華你的神必把你心裡和你後裔心裡的污穢除掉，要你一心一意愛耶和華你的神，使你可以存活。

因此耶和華領亞述王的將帥來攻打他們，用鈎子鈎著瑪拿西，用銅鍊鎖住他，把他帶到巴比倫去。瑪拿西在急難的時候，就懇求耶和華他的神，並且在他列祖的神面前非常謙卑。他向耶和華禱告，耶和華應允他的懇求，垂聽他的祈求，使他歸回耶路撒冷，恢復他的王位。瑪拿西這才知道只有耶和華是神。
