This is what the Lord says:“ Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said,‘ We will not walk in it.’ (niv)

He loads the clouds with moisture; he scatters his lightning through them.At his direction they swirl around over the face of the whole earth to do whatever he commands them.He brings the clouds to punish people, or to water his earth and show his love.“ Listen to this, Job; stop and consider God’s wonders. Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do.” (niv)

Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone. (niv)

Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. (niv)

They do not say to themselves,‘ Let us fear the Lord our God, who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.’ (niv)

“ When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and give praise to your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them,then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel. It is written in the Prophets:‘ They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. (niv)

Don’t let anyone get away!” They seized them, and Elijah had them brought down to the Kishon Valley and slaughtered there.And Elijah said to Ahab,“ Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.”So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees.“ Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked.“ There is nothing there,” he said. Seven times Elijah said,“ Go back.”The seventh time the servant reported,“ A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” So Elijah said,“ Go and tell Ahab,‘ Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’”Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain started falling and Ahab rode off to Jezreel. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying,“ This is the way; walk in it.” (niv)

You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance. (niv)
