For I will cause the captivity of the land to return as at the first, saith Jehovah.Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Yet again shall there be in this place, which is waste, without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.In the cities of the hill- country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks again pass under the hands of him that numbereth them, saith Jehovah.

Therefore was the wrath of Jehovah kindled against his people, And he abhorred his inheritance.And he gave them into the hand of the nations; And they that hated them ruled over them.Their enemies also oppressed them, And they were brought into subjection under their hand.Many times did he deliver them; But they were rebellious in their counsel, And were brought low in their iniquity.Nevertheless he regarded their distress, When he heard their cry:And he remembered for them his covenant, And repented according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.He made them also to be pitied Of all those that carried them captive.Save us, O Jehovah our God, And gather us from among the nations, To give thanks unto thy holy name, And to triumph in thy praise.

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath Jehovah, the God of heaven, given me; and he hath charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.Whosoever there is among you of all his people, his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of Jehovah, the God of Israel( he is God), which is in Jerusalem.And whosoever is left, in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, besides the freewill- offering for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.Then rose up the heads of fathers’ houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, even all whose spirit God had stirred to go up to build the house of Jehovah which is in Jerusalem.And all they that were round about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered.
