All the Levites who were musicians— Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives— stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets.

Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew the trumpets before God’s ark; and Obed- Edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

four thousand were doorkeepers, and four thousand praised Yahweh with the instruments which I made for giving praise.”

He set the Levites in Yahweh’s house with cymbals, with stringed instruments, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet; for the commandment was from Yahweh by his prophets.

These are those who served, and their sons. Of the sons of the Kohathites: Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,

Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet! Praise him with harp and lyre!Praise him with tambourine and dancing! Praise him with stringed instruments and flute!Praise him with loud cymbals! Praise him with resounding cymbals!

His brother Asaph, who stood on his right hand, even Asaph the son of Berechiah, the son of Shimea,

The singers went before, the minstrels followed after, among the ladies playing with tambourines,

Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them,“ Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh’s ark.”They said to the people,“ Advance! March around the city, and let the armed men pass on before Yahweh’s ark.”It was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before Yahweh advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of Yahweh’s covenant followed them.The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the ark went after them. The trumpets sounded as they went.Joshua commanded the people, saying,“ You shall not shout nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth until the day I tell you to shout. Then you shall shout.”So he caused Yahweh’s ark to go around the city, circling it once. Then they came into the camp, and stayed in the camp.Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up Yahweh’s ark.The seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of Yahweh’s ark went on continually, and blew the trumpets. The armed men went in front of them. The rear guard came after Yahweh’s ark. The trumpets sounded as they went.The second day they marched around the city once, and returned into the camp. They did this six days.On the seventh day, they rose early at the dawning of the day, and marched around the city in the same way seven times. On this day only they marched around the city seven times.At the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people,“ Shout, for Yahweh has given you the city!The city shall be devoted, even it and all that is in it, to Yahweh. Only Rahab the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.But as for you, only keep yourselves from what is devoted to destruction, lest when you have devoted it, you take of the devoted thing; so you would make the camp of Israel accursed and trouble it.But all the silver, gold, and vessels of bronze and iron are holy to Yahweh. They shall come into Yahweh’s treasury.”So the people shouted and the priests blew the trumpets. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight in front of him, and they took the city.

and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest who were chosen, who were mentioned by name, to give thanks to Yahweh, because his loving kindness endures forever;and with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should sound aloud, and with instruments for the songs of God; and the sons of Jeduthun to be at the gate.

David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the choir master with the singers; and David had an ephod of linen on him.

The seven angels who had the seven plagues came out, clothed with pure, bright linen, and wearing golden sashes around their breasts.

David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers with instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up their voices with joy.So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;and with them their brothers of the second rank, Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed- Edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were given cymbals of bronze to sound aloud;and Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with stringed instruments set to Alamoth;and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed- Edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps tuned to the eight- stringed lyre, to lead.Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the singing. He taught the singers, because he was skillful.

My soul rests in God alone. My salvation is from him.

Moreover, David and the captains of the army set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who were to prophesy with harps, with stringed instruments, and with cymbals. The number of those who did the work according to their service was:of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah. The sons of Asaph were under the hand of Asaph, who prophesied at the order of the king.Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising Yahweh with the harp.Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti- Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.All these were under the hands of their father for song in Yahweh’s house, with cymbals, stringed instruments, and harps, for the service of God’s house: Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman being under the order of the king.The number of them, with their brothers who were instructed in singing to Yahweh, even all who were skillful, was two hundred eighty- eight.

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,“ Make two trumpets of silver. You shall make them of beaten work. You shall use them for the calling of the congregation, and for the journeying of the camps.When they blow them, all the congregation shall gather themselves to you at the door of the Tent of Meeting.If they blow just one, then the princes, the heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves to you.When you blow an alarm, the camps that lie on the east side shall go forward.

When the builders laid the foundation of Yahweh’s temple, they set the priests in their clothing with trumpets, with the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise Yahweh, according to the directions of David king of Israel.They sang to one another in praising and giving thanks to Yahweh,“ For he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever toward Israel.” All the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised Yahweh, because the foundation of Yahweh’s house had been laid.

and to stand every morning to thank and praise Yahweh, and likewise in the evening;

with the ten- stringed lute, with the harp, and with the melody of the lyre.

The Mighty One, God, Yahweh, speaks, and calls the earth from sunrise to sunset.

Let them praise his name in the dance! Let them sing praises to him with tambourine and harp!

It was given to her that she would array herself in bright, pure, fine linen: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

The priests stood, according to their positions; the Levites also with instruments of music of Yahweh, which David the king had made to give thanks to Yahweh, when David praised by their ministry, saying“ For his loving kindness endures forever.” The priests sounded trumpets before them; and all Israel stood.

David and all Israel played before God with all their might, even with songs, with harps, with stringed instruments, with tambourines, with cymbals, and with trumpets.

He appointed some of the Levites to minister before Yahweh’s ark, and to commemorate, to thank, and to praise Yahweh, the God of Israel:Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed- Edom, and Jeiel, with stringed instruments and with harps; and Asaph with cymbals, sounding aloud;with Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God.

Yahweh, the God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before you.
