歌唱的在前，奏樂的殿後，搖手鼓的少女居中。

嫩的兒子約書亞便召來祭司，對他們說：「你們抬起約櫃，派七位祭司拿著七個羊角號走在耶和華的約櫃前面。」他又對民眾說：「你們要前去繞著城牆走，軍隊要走在耶和華的約櫃前面。」聽完約書亞的吩咐，七個祭司便在耶和華面前拿著羊角號邊走邊吹，耶和華的約櫃就跟在他們後面，軍隊走在吹號的祭司前面，殿後軍隊跟在約櫃後面。祭司一路上吹著號角。約書亞吩咐民眾：「在我下令叫你們吶喊以前，誰也不許作聲，一句話也不許說。」這樣，約書亞使耶和華的約櫃繞城一圈，然後眾人各自回營休息。第二天，約書亞一早起來，祭司又抬起耶和華的約櫃。七個祭司拿著七個羊角號走在耶和華的約櫃前面，一邊走一邊吹角。軍隊走在祭司前面，殿後軍隊跟在耶和華的約櫃後面。這一天他們又繞城一圈，然後各自回營。六天都是這樣。第七天黎明時分，他們起來照樣繞城，只是這一天他們繞城走了七次。走到第七次，祭司吹響了號角，約書亞吩咐民眾說：「吶喊吧！因為耶和華已經將這城交給你們了。要把這座城和城裡所有的東西毀滅，作為獻給耶和華之物。只有妓女喇合和她家中所有的人可以活命，因為她曾把我們派去的探子隱藏起來。你們要小心，不可私拿任何應當毀滅的東西，免得你們自取滅亡，並給以色列全營帶來災禍。要把所有的金銀和銅鐵器皿分別出來獻給耶和華，放進耶和華的庫房裡。」於是，民眾聽到號角聲時，就高聲呐喊，城牆便坍塌了。民眾便一擁而上，佔領了耶利哥城，

與他們一同供職的有希幔、耶杜頓和其他人，他們被特別選出來稱謝上帝，因為祂有永恆的慈愛。希幔和耶杜頓負責用號、鈸及其他樂器伴奏歌頌上帝。耶杜頓的子孫負責守門。

大衛又吩咐利未人的族長去派他們的族人做歌樂手，伴著琴瑟和鈸的樂聲歡唱。於是，利未人指派約珥的兒子希幔和他的親族比利迦的兒子亞薩，以及他的親族米拉利的後代古沙雅的兒子以探。協助他們的親族有撒迦利雅、雅薛、示米拉末、耶歇、烏尼、以利押、比拿雅、瑪西雅、瑪他提雅、以利斐利戶、彌克尼雅，以及守門的俄別·以東和耶利。歌樂手希幔、亞薩和以探負責敲銅鈸，撒迦利雅、雅薛、示米拉末、耶歇、烏尼、以利押、瑪西雅、比拿雅負責鼓瑟，調用高音。瑪他提雅、以利斐利戶、彌克尼雅、俄別·以東、耶利、亞撒西雅負責帶領彈琴，調用低音。利未人的族長基拿尼雅善於歌唱，是歌樂手的領班。

耶和華對摩西說：「你要用銀子打造兩支號，用來招聚會眾和發出拔營的號令。吹響兩支號時，全體會眾要聚集到你那裡，即會幕門口。如果只吹響一支號，擔任首領的以色列各族長要聚集到你那裡。如果吹響拔營的號令，在東面紮營的就要啟行；

工人立耶和華殿的根基時，祭司身穿禮服拿著號角，利未人亞薩的子孫拿著鈸各就各位，照以色列王大衛所定的規矩讚美耶和華。他們彼此唱和，讚美、稱謝耶和華，說：「祂是美善的，因為祂向以色列人永施慈愛！」所有人都高聲歡呼讚美耶和華，因為耶和華殿的根基已經立好。

他們每天早晚要肅立、頌讚耶和華，

從日出之地到日落之處，大能的上帝耶和華召喚世人。

願他們跳舞讚美祂的名，擊鼓彈琴歌頌祂。

獲准穿上光亮潔白的細麻衣。」這細麻衣代表聖徒的義行。

祭司在自己的崗位上侍立，利未人奏著大衛王為頌讚耶和華而為他們製造的樂器，歌頌說：「祂的慈愛永遠長存。」他們對面的祭司也吹響號角，全體以色列人都肅立。

大衛和以色列眾人就在上帝面前用琴、瑟、鼓、鈸和號奏樂，盡情歌舞。

大衛指派一些利未人在耶和華的約櫃前事奉，頌揚、稱謝和讚美以色列的上帝耶和華。為首的是亞薩，其次是撒迦利雅、雅薛、示米拉末、耶歇、瑪他提雅、以利押、比拿雅、俄別·以東和耶利，他們鼓瑟彈琴，亞薩敲鈸。比拿雅和雅哈悉兩位祭司在上帝的約櫃前吹號。
