祸哉！那以不公义盖房，以不公平造楼，白白使邻舍做工，却不给工钱的人，他说：“我要为自己盖宽敞的房，盖高大的楼。”他为它开窗户，以香柏木为墙板，漆上丹红色。难道你作王就是要盖香柏木楼房争胜的吗？你的父亲岂不是也吃也喝，也施行公平和公义吗？那时他得了福乐。他为困苦和贫穷的人伸冤，那时就得了福乐。认识我不就在此吗？这是耶和华说的。你的眼和你的心却专顾不义之财，流无辜人的血，行欺压和残暴。所以，耶和华论到约西亚的儿子犹大王约雅敬如此说：人必不为他举哀：“哀哉，我的哥哥！哀哉，我的姊姊！”也不为他举哀：“哀哉，我的主！哀哉，我主的荣华！”他被埋葬好像埋驴子一样，被拖出去，扔在耶路撒冷城门外。

王烧了有巴录从耶利米口中所写之话的书卷以后，耶和华的话临到耶利米，说：“你再取一书卷，将犹大王约雅敬所烧前一卷书上原有的一切话写在上面。论到犹大王约雅敬你要说，耶和华如此说：你烧了这书卷，说：‘你为什么在上面写着，巴比伦王必要来毁灭这地，使这地绝了人民和牲畜呢？’所以耶和华论到犹大王约雅敬说：他后裔中必没有人坐在大卫的宝座上；他的尸首必被抛弃，白天受炎热，黑夜受寒霜。我必因他和他后裔，并他臣仆的罪孽惩罚他们。我要使我所说的一切灾祸临到他们和耶路撒冷的居民，并犹大人；只是他们不肯听从。”于是，耶利米又取一书卷交给尼利亚的儿子巴录文士，他就从耶利米的口中写了犹大王约雅敬在火中所烧书卷上的一切话，另外又添了许多相仿的话。

当约西亚的儿子约雅敬作犹大王的时候，耶和华的话临到耶利米，说：

约雅敬王和他所有的勇士、官长听见了乌利亚的话，王想要把他处死。乌利亚听见就惧怕，逃往埃及去了。约雅敬王差亚革波的儿子以利拿单，带领几个人前往埃及。他们将乌利亚从埃及带出来，解送到约雅敬王那里；王用刀杀了他，把他的尸首抛在平民的坟地中。
