『那憑不義而建造自己的房屋，憑不公而建築自己的房頂屋，白白使用人的工，而不給工資的、有禍啊！他說：「我要為自己建造高大的房屋，寬敞的房頂屋」，他便為房屋開闢窗戶，用香柏木作護牆板，用銀硃來髹漆。難道你熱心於香柏木之建築以爭勝，就可以顯王者的派頭麼？你父親不是也喫也喝，也秉公行義麼？那時他真享福啊！他為困苦和貧窮人伸訴；那時他真有福啊！認識我、不就在於此麼？永恆主發神諭說。但你的眼你的心卻不顧別的，只顧你的不義之財，逕流無辜人之血，直行欺壓人壓制人的事。因此永恆主論猶大王約西亞的兒子約雅敬、是這麼說的：『人必不為他舉哀，好像人舉哀說：「哀啊，我哥哥！」「哀啊，我姐姐！」人必不為他舉哀，好像人舉哀說：「哀啊，主上啊！」「哀啊，陛下呀！」他必被埋葬，像驢之被埋葬，被拖拉，被拋擲於耶路撒冷城門之外。』

王燒了書卷和巴錄由耶利米口傳而寫下的話以後，永恆主的話又傳與耶利米說：『你再另取一卷，將前卷上先前的一切話、就是猶大王約雅敬所燒了的、都寫在那上頭。論到猶大王約雅敬你要說：「永恆主這麼說：你，你燒了這書卷，說：『你為甚麼在那上頭寫着說：巴比倫王一定會來，毁滅這地，使此地的人和牲口都從這上頭滅絕掉呢？』因此永恆主論猶大王約雅敬就這麼說：他後裔中必沒有人坐大衛的寶座；他的屍體必被拋擲出去，日間去受炎熱，夜裏去受寒霜。我必察罰他和他後裔及他臣僕的罪孽；我必使我所說要譴責他們、的一切災禍臨到他們和耶路撒冷的居民及猶大人；無奈他們不聽。」』於是耶利米另取了一卷，交給尼利亞的兒子祕書巴錄，巴錄就由耶利米口傳將猶大王約雅敬所燒於火中的書上一切話、都寫在那上頭，還把許多類似的話加在裏面。

約雅敬王和他的眾勇士眾首領聽見了烏利亞的話，王就想法子要治死他；烏利亞聽見就懼怕，逃往埃及。約雅敬王打發了人到埃及去，打發亞革波的兒子以利拿單、和幾個人跟着他往埃及去。這些人就從埃及將烏利亞帶出來，送到約雅敬王那裏；王就用刀擊殺了他，把他的屍體拋在平民的墳地。
