In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and also to put it in writing:

It was the first year of the rule of Cyrus. He was king of Persia. The Lord inspired him to send a message all through his kingdom. It happened so that what the Lord had spoken through Jeremiah would come true. The message was written down. It said,

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing:

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, the Lord fulfilled the prophecy he had given through Jeremiah. He stirred the heart of Cyrus to put this proclamation in writing and to send it throughout his kingdom:

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken through Jeremiah, the LORD roused the spirit of King Cyrus of Persia to issue a proclamation throughout his entire kingdom and also to put it in writing:

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia— in order to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah— the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia so that he sent a proclamation throughout his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying,

In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, the word of the Lord spoken through Jeremiah was fulfilled. The Lord put it into the mind of King Cyrus of Persia to issue a proclamation throughout his entire kingdom and also to put it in writing:

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD[ spoken] by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and[ put it] also in writing, saying,

In the first year of the reign of King Cyrus of Persia, in fulfillment of the promise he delivered through Jeremiah, the LORD moved King Cyrus of Persia to issue a written decree throughout his kingdom.

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that Yahweh’s word by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

七十年後，我要報應巴比倫王和他國民迦勒底人的罪，使他們的土地永遠荒涼。這是耶和華說的。

耶和華說：「你們被擄到巴比倫七十年期滿後，我就要眷顧你們，成就我充滿恩典的應許，把你們帶回這地方。

波斯王塞魯士元年，耶和華為要應驗祂藉耶利米所說的話，就感動波斯王塞魯士，使他下詔通告全國：「波斯王塞魯士如此說，『天上的上帝耶和華已把天下萬國都賜給我，祂吩咐我在猶大的耶路撒冷為祂建造殿宇。你們當中凡是耶和華的子民，都可以去猶大的耶路撒冷，為住在耶路撒冷的以色列的上帝耶和華建殿，願上帝與他們同在！

這就應驗了耶和華藉耶利米之口所說的話：這片土地享受了安息，它在荒涼中守安息，直到滿了七十年。

波斯王塞魯士執政第三年，但以理，又名伯提沙撒，得到啟示。這啟示是真實的，是關於一場大爭戰的事。但以理通過異象明白了啟示的意思。

於是，猶大和便雅憫的族長、祭司和利未人——所有被上帝感動的人都準備上耶路撒冷重建耶和華的殿。

耶和華說：「你們說猶大的城邑和耶路撒冷的街道一片荒涼、人畜絕跡，但這些地方必傳出歡樂聲、新郎新娘的歡笑聲和在耶和華殿中獻感恩祭者的歌唱聲，『要感謝萬軍之耶和華，因為耶和華是美善的，祂的慈愛永遠長存』。因為我必使被擄的人回到故土，重建家園。這是耶和華說的。」萬軍之耶和華說：「在這一片荒涼、人畜絕跡的地方，在它所有城邑的周圍必再有供牧人放羊的草場。在山區、丘陵和南地的城邑，以及便雅憫、耶路撒冷周圍和猶大的城邑必有人清點羊群。這是耶和華說的。」耶和華說：「看啊，時候將到，我要實現我給以色列人和猶大人的美好應許。

我說塞魯士是我的牧人，他必完成我的旨意，他會下令重建耶路撒冷，降旨奠定聖殿的根基。「我耶和華膏立塞魯士為王，我牽著他的右手幫助他征服列國、降服列王；我使城門洞開，讓他通行無阻。我對他說，『我要走在你前面，為你鏟平高山，打破銅門，砍斷鐵閂。我要把隱藏的寶物和秘密收藏的財富賜給你，好叫你知道點名呼召你的是我——以色列的上帝耶和華。雖然你不認識我，但為了我的僕人雅各，我所揀選的以色列，我還是點名呼召你，賜給你一個尊貴的名號。我是獨一無二的耶和華，除我以外再沒有上帝。雖然你不認識我，但我還是賜你力量。

看啊，我要驅使瑪代人來攻擊他們。瑪代人不在乎金子，也不看重銀子，他們必用弓箭射死青年，不憐憫嬰兒，也不顧惜孩童。

「『我曾降下這一切災禍給他們，我也要把我應許的福樂賜給他們。這是耶和華說的。耶利米啊，你們說這地方落在了迦勒底人手中，變得一片荒涼，人獸絕跡。但將來這地方必再有人置買田產。在便雅憫境內，耶路撒冷周圍和猶大的城邑，以及山區、丘陵、南部的城邑中，必有人置買田地，簽訂地契，蓋封印，請人作證，因為我必使被擄的人回到故土。這是耶和華說的。』」

上帝又使以利亞大的兒子利遜興起，與所羅門為敵。這人從他主人瑣巴王哈大底謝身邊逃走後，

我已向我揀選的士兵發出命令，我已號召我的勇士去傾倒我的烈怒，他們因我的勝利而歡喜。聽啊，山上人聲鼎沸，像是大軍的聲音。那是列邦列國聚集呐喊的聲音。萬軍之耶和華正在召集軍隊，準備作戰。他們從地極，從天邊而來。那是耶和華及傾倒祂烈怒的兵器，要來毀滅大地。

耶和華驅使非利士人和古實附近的阿拉伯人攻打約蘭。

因此，以色列的上帝驅使亞述王普勒，即提革拉·毗尼色，把呂便人、迦得人、瑪拿西半個支派的人擄到哈臘、哈博、哈拉和歌散河邊，他們至今還在那裡。

耶和華感動撒拉鐵的兒子猶大省長所羅巴伯、約撒答的兒子大祭司約書亞和所有的餘民，他們就動工建造他們的上帝萬軍之耶和華的殿，

通告猶大和耶路撒冷的人民要將上帝的僕人摩西在曠野為以色列人定的稅帶來獻給耶和華。

於是，他們下令通告全以色列，從別示巴直到但，讓人們到耶路撒冷向以色列的上帝耶和華守逾越節，因為人們不常照律例守這節期。

我主我王，請聽僕人說，如果是耶和華使你與我作對，願祂悅納我獻上的祭物；如果這是出於人的主意，願他們在耶和華面前受咒詛。因為他們趕我離開耶和華所賜的產業，叫我去服侍外族人的神明。

他們必受許多國家和強大君王的奴役，我要按他們的所作所為報應他們。」

我們要堅定不移地持守我們所認定的盼望，因為賜應許的那位是信實的。

耶和華使以東王的後裔哈達興起，與所羅門為敵。
