波斯王居鲁士元年，耶和华为要应验藉耶利米的口所说的话，就激发波斯王居鲁士的心，使他下诏书通告全国，说：“波斯王居鲁士如此说：耶和华天上的神已将地上万国赐给我，又委派我在犹大的耶路撒冷为他建造殿宇。你们中间凡作他子民的，可以上犹大的耶路撒冷去，重建耶和华—以色列神的殿，他是在耶路撒冷的神；愿神与这人同在。凡存留的人，无论寄居何处，那地的人要用金银、财物、牲畜帮助他，还要为耶路撒冷神的殿甘心献上礼物。”于是，犹大和便雅悯的族长、祭司、利未人，凡是心被神感动的人都起来，要上耶路撒冷去建造耶和华的殿。四围所有的人都拿银器、金子、财物、牲畜、珍宝支持他们，此外还有甘心献的一切礼物。居鲁士王也把耶和华殿的器皿拿出来，这些器皿是尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷掠取，放在自己神明庙中的。波斯王居鲁士派米提利达司库把这些器皿拿出来，点交给犹大的领袖设巴萨。它们的数目如下：金盘三十个，银盘一千个，刀二十九把，金碗三十个，备用银碗四百一十个，其他器皿一千件。金银器皿共有五千四百件。被掳的人从巴比伦上耶路撒冷的时候，设巴萨把这一切都带了上来。

波斯王居鲁士元年，耶和华为要应验藉耶利米的口所说的话，就激发波斯王居鲁士的心，使他下诏书通告全国，说：

因为你富裕的时候，不以欢喜快乐的心事奉耶和华—你的神，所以你必在饥饿、干渴、赤身、缺乏中事奉仇敌，那是耶和华派来攻击你的。他必把铁轭加在你的颈项上，直到把你除灭。

那时尼布撒拉旦护卫长将城里剩下的百姓和那些投降巴比伦王的人，以及其余的众人，都掳去了。
