But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the Lord was aroused against his people and there was no remedy.

But God’s people made fun of his messengers. They hated his words. They laughed at his prophets. Finally the Lord’ s great anger was stirred up against his people. Nothing could save them.

驛卒就由這城跑到那城，傳遍了以法蓮、瑪拿西，直到西布倫。那裏的人卻戲笑他們，譏誚他們。

看守耶穌的人戲弄他，打他，又蒙着他的眼，問他說：「你是先知，告訴我們打你的是誰？」

因為猶大王西底家已將他囚禁，說：「你為甚麼預言說，耶和華如此說：『我必將這城交在巴比倫王的手中，他必攻取這城。

我呼喚，你們不肯聽從；我伸手，無人理會；反輕棄我一切的勸戒，不肯受我的責備。你們遭災難，我就發笑；驚恐臨到你們，我必嗤笑。驚恐臨到你們，好像狂風；災難來到，如同暴風；急難痛苦臨到你們身上。那時，你們必呼求我，我卻不答應，懇切地尋找我，卻尋不見。因為，你們恨惡知識，不喜愛敬畏耶和華，不聽我的勸戒，藐視我一切的責備，所以必吃自結的果子，充滿自設的計謀。

他們如同席上好嬉笑的狂妄人向我咬牙。

只因我們列祖惹天上的神發怒，神把他們交在迦勒底人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒的手中，他就拆毀這殿，又將百姓擄到巴比倫。

所以，災難必忽然臨到他身；他必頃刻敗壞，無法可治。

神啊，你為何永遠丟棄我們呢？你為何向你草場的羊發怒，如煙冒出呢？

哪一個先知不是你們祖宗逼迫呢？他們也把預先傳說那義者要來的人殺了；如今你們又把那義者賣了，殺了。

希律和他的兵丁就藐視耶穌，戲弄他，給他穿上華麗衣服，把他送回彼拉多那裏去。

還有人譏誚說：「他們無非是新酒灌滿了。」

他將要被交給外邦人；他們要戲弄他，凌辱他，吐唾沫在他臉上，

所以，那棄絕的，不是棄絕人，乃是棄絕那賜聖靈給你們的神。

眾人聽見從死裏復活的話，就有譏誚他的；又有人說：「我們再聽你講這個吧！」

又有人忍受戲弄、鞭打、捆鎖、監禁、各等的磨煉，

法利賽人是貪愛錢財的；他們聽見這一切話，就嗤笑耶穌。

主說：你們這輕慢的人要觀看，要驚奇，要滅亡；因為在你們的時候，我行一件事，雖有人告訴你們，你們總是不信。」

現在你們不可褻慢，恐怕捆你們的綁索更結實了；因為我從主－萬軍之耶和華那裏聽見，已經決定在全地上施行滅絕的事。

他們就拿住耶利米，下在哈米勒的兒子瑪基雅的牢獄裏；那牢獄在護衛兵的院中。他們用繩子將耶利米繫下去。牢獄裏沒有水，只有淤泥，耶利米就陷在淤泥中。

應當歡喜快樂，因為你們在天上的賞賜是大的。在你們以前的先知，人也是這樣逼迫他們。」

耶和華啊，你曾勸導我，我也聽了你的勸導。你比我有力量，且勝了我。我終日成為笑話，人人都戲弄我。

兵丁也戲弄他，上前拿醋送給他喝，

神啊，外邦人進入你的產業，污穢你的聖殿，使耶路撒冷變成荒堆，把你僕人的屍首交與天空的飛鳥為食，把你聖民的肉交與地上的野獸，在耶路撒冷周圍流他們的血如水，無人葬埋。我們成為鄰國的羞辱，成為我們四圍人的嗤笑譏刺。耶和華啊，這到幾時呢？你要動怒到永遠嗎？你的憤恨要如火焚燒嗎？

「你們再聽一個比喻：有個家主栽了一個葡萄園，周圍圈上籬笆，裏面挖了一個壓酒池，蓋了一座樓，租給園戶，就往外國去了。收果子的時候近了，就打發僕人到園戶那裏去收果子。園戶拿住僕人，打了一個，殺了一個，用石頭打死一個。主人又打發別的僕人去，比先前更多；園戶還是照樣待他們。後來打發他的兒子到他們那裏去，意思說：『他們必尊敬我的兒子。』不料，園戶看見他兒子，就彼此說：『這是承受產業的。來吧，我們殺他，佔他的產業！』他們就拿住他，推出葡萄園外，殺了。園主來的時候要怎樣處治這些園戶呢？」他們說：「要下毒手除滅那些惡人，將葡萄園另租給那按着時候交果子的園戶。」
