“从犹大王亚们的儿子约西亚第十三年直到今日，这二十三年来，常有耶和华的话临到我，我也不断对你们传讲，你们却不听从。耶和华虽然不断差遣他的仆人众先知到你们那里去；但你们却没有听从，毫不留心。

现在，因你们行了这一切事，我不断恳切告诫你们，你们却不听；我呼唤你们，你们却不答话。”这是耶和华的宣告。

自从你们列祖出埃及地的那日直到今日，我差遣我的仆人众先知到你们那里去，而且是每日不断差遣。

耶稣走近耶路撒冷的时候，看见了城，就为城哀哭，说：“巴不得你在这日子，知道关于你平安的事，但现在这事在你眼前是隐藏的。日子将到，你的仇敌必筑垒攻击你，周围环绕你，四面困住你，要摧毁你和你里面的儿女，没有一块石头留在另一块石头上面，因为你不知道那眷顾你的时期。”

虽然我不断差遣我的仆人众先知到你们那里去，说：你们千万不可行我所恨恶，这可憎的事！他们却不听从，毫不留心，不肯离开他们的恶行，仍向别神烧香。

但耶和华仍然施恩给他们，怜悯他们，眷顾他们，这是因为他与亚伯拉罕、以撒和雅各所立的约，不愿意毁灭他们，把他们从自己的面前丢弃，直到今日。

他们离弃了耶和华他们列祖的神的殿，去事奉亚舍拉和偶像。因为他们的罪，神的忿怒临到犹大和耶路撒冷。但耶和华仍然差派先知到他们中间，引导他们归向耶和华；这些先知虽然警告他们，他们却不肯听从。那时，神的灵临到耶何耶大祭司的儿子撒迦利亚身上，他就站在比众民高的地方，对他们说：“神这样说：‘你们为什么违背耶和华的诫命，使你们不得亨通呢？因为你们离弃了耶和华，所以耶和华也离弃你们。’”众人要杀害撒迦利亚，于是照着王的命令，在耶和华殿的院子里用石头把他打死。

以色列人就从他们中间除去外族人的神，事奉耶和华；耶和华的心因以色列人所受的患难，就很着急。

耶和华曾藉着他的众先知和先见警告以色列人和犹大人说：“从你们的恶道上转回吧！谨守我的吩咐和我的律例，就是我曾吩咐你们的祖先，和藉着我的仆人众先知传递给你们的一切律法。”

耶和华曾警告玛拿西和他的人民，他们却不理会。

“以法莲啊，我怎能舍弃你！以色列啊，我怎能把你交出来！我怎能对你如同押玛，待你好像洗扁呢！我的心肠翻转，我的怜悯发动。
