For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.

There were more leaders found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar, and thus they were divided. Among the sons of Eleazar were sixteen heads of their fathers’ houses, and eight heads of their fathers’ houses among the sons of Ithamar.Thus they were divided by lot, one group as another, for there were officials of the sanctuary and officials of the house of God, from the sons of Eleazar and from the sons of Ithamar.

I know also, my God, that You test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things; and now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here to offer willingly to You.

Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common,and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.

Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.

Now when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the Lord, Hilkiah the priest found the Book of the Law of the Lord given by Moses.Then Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe,“ I have found the Book of the Law in the house of the Lord.” And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan.So Shaphan carried the book to the king, bringing the king word, saying,“ All that was committed to your servants they are doing.And they have gathered the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers and the workmen.”Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying,“ Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it before the king.Thus it happened, when the king heard the words of the Law, that he tore his clothes.Then the king commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying,

Then the captain went with the officers and brought them without violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.

and whereas all the silver and gold that you may find in all the province of Babylon, along with the freewill offering of the people and the priests, are to be freely offered for the house of their God in Jerusalem—

And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; The rich among the people will seek your favor.

And Phinehas the son of Eleazar had been the officer over them in time past; the Lord was with him.

Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying: You have sent letters in your name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,“ The Lord has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, so that there should be officers in the house of the Lord over every man who is demented and considers himself a prophet, that you should put him in prison and in the stocks.

Then the leaders of the fathers’ houses, leaders of the tribes of Israel, the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the officers over the king’s work, offered willingly.They gave for the work of the house of God five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.And whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the Lord, into the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.Then the people rejoiced, for they had offered willingly, because with a loyal heart they had offered willingly to the Lord; and King David also rejoiced greatly.

So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

And all those who were around them encouraged them with articles of silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered.

And some of the heads of the fathers’ houses gave to the work. and weighed out to them the silver, the gold, and the articles, the offering for the house of our God which the king and his counselors and his princes, and all Israel who were present, had offered.I weighed into their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, silver articles weighing one hundred talents, one hundred talents of gold,twenty gold basins worth a thousand drachmas, and two vessels of fine polished bronze, precious as gold.And I said to them,“ You are holy to the Lord; the articles are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering to the Lord God of your fathers.Watch and keep them until you weigh them before the leaders of the priests and the Levites and heads of the fathers’ houses of Israel in Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the Lord.”So the priests and the Levites received the silver and the gold and the articles by weight, to bring them to Jerusalem to the house of our God.Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem. And the hand of our God was upon us, and He delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambush along the road.So we came to Jerusalem, and stayed there three days.Now on the fourth day the silver and the gold and the articles were weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest, and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; with them were the Levites, Jozabad the son of Jeshua and Noadiah the son of Binnui,with the number and weight of everything. All the weight was written down at that time.The children of those who had been carried away captive, who had come from the captivity, offered burnt offerings to the God of Israel: twelve bulls for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, and twelve male goats as a sin offering. All this was a burnt offering to the Lord.

Some of the heads of the fathers’ houses, when they came to the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God, to erect it in its place:According to their ability, they gave to the treasury for the work sixty-one thousand gold drachmas, five thousand minas of silver, and one hundred priestly garments.

Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them,
