利未人见银子多了，把柜子抬到王所派的官长面前；这时王的书记和祭司长的助手就会来把柜子倒空，然后放回原处。日日都是这样做，积蓄的银子很多。王与耶何耶大把银子交给耶和华殿里办事的人，他们就雇了石匠、木匠重修耶和华的殿，又雇了铁匠、铜匠整修耶和华的殿。工人做工，修理工程在他们手中渐渐完成，他们将上帝的殿修理得如同从前一样，非常坚固。他们做完了，就把多余的银子拿到王与耶何耶大面前，用以制造耶和华殿供奉所用的器皿和调羹，以及金银的器皿。耶何耶大在世的日子，众人经常在耶和华殿里献燔祭。

他们把奉到耶和华殿的银子运出来的时候，希勒家祭司发现了耶和华藉摩西所传的律法书。希勒家对沙番书记说：“我在耶和华殿里发现了律法书。”希勒家把书递给沙番。

王吩咐希勒家大祭司和副祭司，以及把守殿门的，把那些为巴力和亚舍拉，以及天上万象所造的器皿，都从耶和华殿里搬出来，在耶路撒冷外汲沦的田间烧了，把灰拿到伯特利去。

末了，弟兄们，凡是真实的、凡是可敬的、凡是公义的、凡是清洁的、凡是可爱的、凡是有美名的，若有什么德行，若有什么称赞，你们都要留意。

这一切事都完毕以后，在那里的以色列众人就到犹大的城镇，打碎柱像，砍断亚舍拉，又在犹大、便雅悯、以法莲、玛拿西遍地把丘坛和祭坛完全拆毁。于是以色列众人各回各城，各归自己产业的地去了。

“你上到希勒家大祭司那里，请他把奉献到耶和华殿的银子，就是门口的守卫从百姓中收来的银子，结算清楚，交在管理耶和华殿督工的手里，由他们支付给在耶和华殿里做工的人，好修理殿的破坏之处，就是木匠、工人和瓦匠，又买木料和凿成的石头，来整修殿宇。但他们不用跟这些经手接受银子的人算帐，因为这些人办事诚实。”

王吩咐希勒家与沙番的儿子亚希甘、米迦的儿子亚比顿、沙番书记和王的臣仆亚撒雅，说：

沙番书记又向王报告说：“希勒家祭司递给我一卷书。”沙番就在王面前朗读那书。

于是，希勒家和王的人都去见户勒大女先知，她是掌管礼服的沙龙的妻子，沙龙是哈斯拉的孙子，特瓦的儿子。户勒大住在耶路撒冷第二区。他们向她说明来意。
