The king stood by his pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the Lord— to follow the Lord and keep his commands, statutes and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, and to obey the words of the covenant written in this book.

The king stood next to his pillar. He agreed to the terms of the covenant in front of the Lord. The king promised to serve the Lord and obey his commands, directions and rules. He promised to obey them with all his heart and with all his soul. So the king promised to obey the terms of the covenant that were written in that book.

耶何耶大讓民眾和王與他一起立約，要做耶和華的子民。

她看見王照例站在柱旁，百夫長和吹號的人侍立在王左右，眾人都歡呼吹號，便撕裂衣服喊叫：「反了！反了！」

他們又與他們祖先的上帝耶和華立約，要全心全意地尋求祂。

現在我決心要與以色列的上帝耶和華立約，好使祂的烈怒轉離我們。

他曾造一個長二點二五米，寬二點二五米，高一點三五米的銅臺，放在院子中間。他站在臺上，當著以色列會眾的面跪下，向天伸出雙手，

都跟隨他們的貴族同胞起誓要謹遵上帝藉祂僕人摩西頒佈的律法，遵守我們的主耶和華的一切誡命、典章和律例。

他們必打聽前往錫安的路，朝錫安走去。他們必憑不會被遺忘的永恆之約歸附耶和華。

但如今，基督得到了一個更超越的職任，正如祂擔任了更美之約的中保，這約是根據更美的應許所立的。因為如果第一個約沒有缺點，就不必另立新約了。然而，上帝指責祂的百姓，說：「看啊，時候將到，我要與以色列家和猶大家另立新約，這約不同於我與他們祖先所立的約，就是我牽著他們祖先的手領他們離開埃及時所立的。因為他們不持守我的約，所以我不再理會他們。這是主說的。主又說，那些日子以後，我將與以色列家立這樣的約，我要把我的律法放在他們腦中，寫在他們心上。我要作他們的上帝，他們要作我的子民。誰都無需再教導自己的鄰居和弟兄，說，『你要認識主。』因為他們無論尊卑都必認識我。我要赦免他們的過犯，忘掉他們的罪惡。」上帝既然說要立新約，就是把以前的約當作舊的了，那漸漸過時、陳舊的東西很快就會消失。

「今天，你們全都站在你們的上帝耶和華面前，包括你們的族長、長老、官員、所有以色列男子、你們的孩子、妻子和寄居在你們中間為你們砍柴挑水的外族人，為要接受你們的上帝耶和華與你們立的誓約。這樣，祂今天將宣告你們是祂的子民、祂是你們的上帝，正如祂對你們的應許和對你們祖先亞伯拉罕、以撒和雅各的誓言。耶和華的這誓約不僅是與你們立的，也是與今天一同站在我們的上帝耶和華面前的人，以及今天不在這裡的人立的。

第七年，耶何耶大派人召迦利人和衛兵的百夫長們到耶和華的殿裡，與他們立約，讓他們在耶和華的殿裡起誓，然後把約阿施王子帶到他們面前。

猶大人都為所起的誓而歡喜快樂，因他們誠心起誓、誠意尋求耶和華，耶和華就讓他們尋見，並賜他們四境平安。

我曾經起誓，我必信守諾言：我要遵行你公義的法令。

你們要全心、全意、全力愛你們的上帝耶和華。

你的法度永遠是我的寶貴產業，是我喜樂的泉源。我決心遵行你的律例，一直到底。

在這些日子，君王要從東門穿過門廊通道進入內院，站在門框旁邊。祭司要為他獻燔祭和平安祭。他在入口的門檻那裡敬拜，然後離去。這門要到晚上才關閉。

然後照上帝的僕人摩西的律法照常供職。祭司從利未人手中接過血，灑在壇上。

律法教師答道：「『你要全心、全情、全力、全意愛主——你的上帝』，又要『愛鄰如己』。」耶穌說：「你答得對，照著去做就有永生了。」律法教師想證明自己有理，就問：「那麼，誰是我的鄰居呢？」

摩西把祭牲的血一半放在盆裡，一半灑在壇上。他又把約書念給百姓聽，百姓聽了都說：「我們願意遵行耶和華的一切吩咐，我們願意順服。」摩西便把盆中的血灑在百姓身上，說：「這是立約的血，是耶和華按所說的話與你們立約的憑據。」

無論是在上帝的殿中事奉，還是遵行律法和誡命，他都尋求他的上帝，盡心去做。因此，他行事順利。

當天約書亞與民眾立約，在示劍為他們訂立律例和典章。

「鑒於這一切，我們鄭重立約，記載下來。我們的首領、利未人和祭司都在上面蓋了印。」

耶和華除了與以色列人在何烈山立約外，還在摩押吩咐摩西與以色列人立以下的約。
