及其居民、祭司、先知、由尊逮卑、咸入耶和華殿、王誦殿中所得之約書、使民咸聞。

余為以色列王、睹耶路撒冷、

既登國位、必從祭司利未人所存之律法、錄成卷册、存之於側、畢生誦之、則知畏其上帝耶和華、遵其律法、行其禮儀。心勿驕奢、藐視同儕、勿違誡命、勿偏於左、勿偏於右、則可享遐齡、爰及子孫、於以色列族中。

耶和華曰、時日伊邇、我與以色列族猶大家將立新約。昔我佑厥祖導出埃及、與之立約為彼所爽、我擯之弗顧、今復立約、必不若是。

相約一心一意、宗事列祖之上帝耶和華、凡不崇以色列族之上帝耶和華、無論尊卑男女、死無赦。

以盟約之詞、誦於民聽。僉曰、耶和華所諭、我必遵行。

告繕寫沙番曰、我在耶和華殿、得律例之書、乃以書授沙番、

七月將屆、以色列族咸集於水門衢、惟一心、請選士以士喇、攜耶和華所命摩西傳以色列族律例之書。七月朔、眾男女、凡能聽而知之者、咸在水門衢、祭司以士喇抱書至、自朝至於日中、當眾前誦讀、僉聆斯義。

在位三年、使臣僕便海益、阿巴底、撒迦利亞、拿但業、米該雅、在猶大諸邑、訓迪民人、亦使利未人、示罵雅、尼大尼、西巴地、亞撒黑、示米喇末、約拿單、亞多尼雅、多庇亞、奪亞多尼雅、偕祭司以利沙馬、約蘭、執耶和華律例之書、遍猶大諸邑、訓迪民人。

我既有智、教民以智、專心求道、陳述箴規。我所云嘉言也、所錄實語也、

在彼尊卑同居、僕不虐於主、

所羅門曰、耶和華曾云、必居於幽深玄遠。我為之建殿、永為駐蹕之所。以色列族眾侍立、王回顧焉、為之祝嘏、曰、昔以色列族上帝耶和華、許我父大闢、今踐其前言、當頌美之。所許之言曰、自導以色列民出埃及以來、我未嘗於以色列支派中、遴選一邑、使人建殿、為籲我名之所、亦未嘗簡人、治我民以色列族、今選耶路撒冷、為籲我名之所、又選大闢、治我以色列族之民。我父大闢欲建殿、奉事以色列族之上帝耶和華、而籲其名。耶和華諭之曰、爾欲建殿、為籲我名之所、此舉甚善。然爾不得建殿、惟爾一脈之裔必建殿、以籲我名。今我繼父大闢、踐以色列國位、已建此殿、奉事以色列族上帝耶和華、以籲其名、而耶和華前言應矣。昔耶和華與以色列族約、碑藏法匱、我今庋置於殿。

又曰、祭司希勒家以書授我。遂誦書於王前。王聞律例所言、自裂其衣、

鞫事屬上帝、汝鞫人時、毋行偏視、無論尊卑、必聽其訟、不可畏人、如事關重大、則告於我、我為剖析、

王命億兆曰、爾當守爾上帝耶和華之逾越節禮、循約書所載。

亞蘭王命車騎之長曰、大小軍旅、毋庸與戰、惟攻以色列王而已。

爾曾於猶大王前、諷誦此書、其中有譴責之詞、我必降災斯土、爰及民人、以踐是言。
