In the third year of his reign, Jehoshaphat sent his officials— Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah— to teach in the cities of Judah.The Levites with them were Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah; the priests, Elishama and Jehoram, were with these Levites.They taught throughout Judah, having the book of the LORD’s instruction with them. They went throughout the towns of Judah and taught the people.

In addition to the Teacher being a wise man, he constantly taught the people knowledge; he weighed, explored, and arranged many proverbs.The Teacher sought to find delightful sayings and write words of truth accurately.

I have taken the place of my father David and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have built the temple for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.I have put the ark there, where the LORD’s covenant is that he made with the Israelites.

Then the court secretary Shaphan told the king,“ The priest Hilkiah gave me a book,” and Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king.When the king heard the words of the law, he tore his clothes.

Do not show partiality when deciding a case; listen to small and great alike. Do not be intimidated by anyone, for judgment belongs to God. Bring me any case too difficult for you, and I will hear it.

The king commanded all the people,“ Observe the Passover of the LORD your God as written in the book of the covenant.”

Now the king of Aram had ordered his chariot commanders,“ Do not fight with anyone at all except the king of Israel.”
