爾聞我指此地、與其居民所言、乃中心柔順、自卑於上帝前、裂衣哭泣、我俞允爾、耶和華言之矣、

知我譴責斯邑、爰及民人、爾則中心畏懼、自怨自艾、裂衣泣哭於我前、我允爾祈、

聞我指此處及其居民所言、爾則中心敬服、於我前自卑、裂衣、哭於我前、故我俯聽爾、使爾平康歸爾列祖、歸爾墓中、我所將降於此處及其居民之諸災、不使爾目睹之、此乃主所言、使者返、復言於王、○

Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before God when you heard what he spoke against this place and its people, and because you humbled yourself before me and tore your robes and wept in my presence, I have heard you, declares the Lord.

The Lord says,“ Your heart was tender. You made yourself humble in my sight. You heard what I spoke against this place and its people. So you made yourself humble. You tore your royal robes and wept. And I have heard you,” announces the Lord.

because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and its inhabitants, and you have humbled yourself before me and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you, declares the Lord.

You were sorry and humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this city and its people. You humbled yourself and tore your clothing in despair and wept before me in repentance. And I have indeed heard you, says the Lord.

‘ You displayed a sensitive spirit and humbled yourself before God when you heard his words concerning this place and its residents. You humbled yourself before me, tore your clothes and wept before me, and I have heard you,’ says the LORD.

但希西家和耶路撒冷的居民為了心裏驕傲，就一同謙卑，以致耶和華的憤怒在希西家的日子沒有臨到他們。

王聽見律法的話，就撕裂衣服。

那至高無上、永遠長存、名為聖者的如此說：「我住在至高至聖的所在，卻與心靈痛悔的謙卑人同住；要使謙卑的人心靈甦醒，使痛悔的人內心復甦。

猶底念了三、四段，王就用文士的刀把書卷割破，丟在火盆裏，直到全卷在火中燒盡了。王和聽見這一切話的臣僕都不懼怕，也不撕裂衣服。

耶和華見他們謙卑，耶和華的話就臨到示瑪雅，說：「他們既謙卑，我必不滅絕他們；我要使他們暫時得拯救，不藉着示撒的手將我的怒氣倒在耶路撒冷。

我也要賜給你們一顆新心，將新靈放在你們裏面，又從你們的肉體中除掉石心，賜給你們肉心。

耶和華對他說：「你去走遍耶路撒冷全城，那些為城中所做可憎之事嘆息哀哭的人，你要在他們額上做記號。」

耶和華靠近傷心的人，拯救心靈痛悔的人。

耶和華啊，困苦人的心願你早已聽見；你必堅固他們的心，也必側耳聽他們的祈求，

他們尚未求告，我就應允；正說話的時候，我就垂聽。

然而，派你們來求問耶和華的猶大王，你們要這樣回覆他：『耶和華－以色列的神如此說：至於你所聽見的話，就是聽見我指着這地方和其上的居民說，要使這地方變為荒蕪、百姓受詛咒的話，你的心就軟化，在耶和華面前謙卑下來，撕裂衣服，向我哭泣，因此我應允你。這是耶和華說的。

他的禱告，神怎樣應允他，他未謙卑以前的一切罪愆過犯，以及在何處建築丘壇，設立亞舍拉和雕刻的偶像，看哪，都寫在何賽的書上。

但是他賜更多的恩典，正如經上說：「神抵擋驕傲的人，但賜恩給謙卑的人。」所以，要順服神。要抵擋魔鬼，魔鬼就必逃避你們；要親近神，神就必親近你們。有罪的人哪，要潔淨你們的手！心懷二意的人哪，要清潔你們的心！你們要愁苦，悲哀，哭泣；要將歡笑變為悲哀，歡樂變為愁悶。要在主面前謙卑，他就使你們高升。

這一切是我手所造的，這一切就都存在了。我所看顧的是困苦、靈裏痛悔、因我言語而戰兢的人。這是耶和華說的。

神所要的祭就是憂傷的靈；神啊，憂傷痛悔的心，你必不輕看。

他在急難的時候懇求耶和華－他的神，並在他列祖的神面前極其謙卑。

希西家豈不是將耶和華的丘壇和祭壇廢去，並且吩咐猶大與耶路撒冷的人說：你們當在一個壇前敬拜，在其上燒香嗎？我與我祖先向列邦民族所行的，你們豈不知道嗎？列邦的神明何嘗能救自己的國脫離我的手呢？
