爾聞我指此地、與其居民所言、乃中心柔順、自卑於上帝前、裂衣哭泣、我俞允爾、耶和華言之矣、

知我譴責斯邑、爰及民人、爾則中心畏懼、自怨自艾、裂衣泣哭於我前、我允爾祈、

聞我指此處及其居民所言、爾則中心敬服、於我前自卑、裂衣、哭於我前、故我俯聽爾、使爾平康歸爾列祖、歸爾墓中、我所將降於此處及其居民之諸災、不使爾目睹之、此乃主所言、使者返、復言於王、○

Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before God when you heard what he spoke against this place and its people, and because you humbled yourself before me and tore your robes and wept in my presence, I have heard you, declares the Lord.

The Lord says,“ Your heart was tender. You made yourself humble in my sight. You heard what I spoke against this place and its people. So you made yourself humble. You tore your royal robes and wept. And I have heard you,” announces the Lord.

但希西家因为自己心高气傲而谦卑下来，他和耶路撒冷的居民都谦卑下来，因此耶和华的忿怒，在希西家在世的日子，没有临到他们身上。

王一听见律法书上的话，就撕裂自己的衣服，

因为那至高无上、永远存在、他名为圣的这样说：“虽然我住在至高至圣的地方，却与心灵痛悔和谦卑的人同在，要使谦卑人的灵苏醒，也使痛悔人的心苏醒。

每逢犹底宣读完三四段，王就用书记的小刀把书割破，丢进盆中的火里，直到全卷都在盆中的火里烧尽了。王和他所有听见这一切话的臣仆，都不惊惧，也不撕裂衣服。

耶和华看见他们谦卑下来，耶和华的话就临到示玛雅，说：“他们既然谦卑下来，我就不灭绝他们；我必使他们暂时得救，我必不藉着示撒把我的烈怒倾倒在耶路撒冷。

“‘我必把新心赐给你们，把新灵放在你们里面；我必从你们的肉体中除去石心，把肉心赐给你们。

对他说：“你要走遍耶路撒冷全城，那些因城中所行的一切可憎的事而叹息悲哀的人，你要在他们的额上画个记号。”

耶和华亲近心中破碎的人，拯救灵里痛悔的人，

耶和华啊！困苦人的心愿你已经听见，你必坚固他们的心，也必留心听他们的呼求；

那时，他们还未呼求，我就应允，他们还在说话，我就垂听。

至于那差你们来求问耶和华的犹大王，你们要这样对他说：耶和华以色列的神这样说：有关你所听见的话，你听见我攻击这地方和它的居民的话，就是他们要成为荒凉，受咒诅，你的心就顺服，在我面前谦卑，又撕裂自己的衣服，在我面前哀哭，我已经听到了。这是耶和华的宣告。

他的祷告，神怎样应允他的恳求，他谦卑下来以前的一切罪恶和过犯，以及他在什么地方建筑邱坛，设立亚舍拉和偶像，都记在先见（按照《马索拉文本》的绝大部分文本，“先见”作“何赛”，原文与“先见”相似；现参照另一份文本和《七十士译本》翻译）的言行录上。

但神所赐的恩更大；所以圣经上说：“神对抗骄傲的人，赐恩给谦卑的人。”你们应当顺服神，抵挡魔鬼，魔鬼就逃避你们。你们应当亲近神，神就亲近你们。罪人啊，要洁净你们的手；三心两意的人哪，要清洁你们的心。你们要愁苦、悲哀、哭泣，把欢笑变为伤痛，把快乐变为忧愁。你们务要在主面前谦卑，他就使你们高升。

耶和华说：“这一切都是我亲手所造的，所以它们就有了。以下这种人是我要垂顾的，就是谦卑、心灵伤痛、因我的话而战兢的人。

神所要的祭，就是破碎的灵；神啊！破碎痛悔的心，你必不轻看。

玛拿西在急难的时候，就恳求耶和华他的神，并且在他列祖的神面前非常谦卑。

这希西家不是曾经把耶和华的邱坛和祭坛除去，吩咐犹大和耶路撒冷的人说：你们要在一个坛前敬拜，要在它上面烧香吗？我和我列祖向各地的民族所行的，你们不知道吗？各地列国的神能拯救他们的国脱离我的手吗？
