Because they have forsaken me and burned incense to other gods and aroused my anger by all that their hands have made, my anger will be poured out on this place and will not be quenched.’

That’s because the people have deserted me. They have burned incense to other gods. They have made me very angry because of everything their hands have made. So my anger will burn like a fire against this place. And the fire of my anger will not be put out.’ ” ’

他重新建造他父親希西家拆毀的邱壇，又為巴力立壇，製造亞舍拉，並且敬拜和事奉天上的萬象。他又在耶和華的殿中築壇，耶和華曾經指著這殿說：“我的名必永遠留在耶路撒冷。”瑪拿西在耶和華殿的兩院中，為天上的萬象築壇，並且在欣嫩子谷把自己的兒女用火燒為祭，又占卜、行邪術、用法術、交鬼和通靈；作了很多耶和華看為惡的事，惹他發怒。他又把他所做的雕像立在神的殿中，神曾經指著這殿，對大衛和他的兒子所羅門說：“我要在這殿裡，和在我從以色列各支派中揀選的耶路撒冷中，立我的名，直到永遠。只要以色列人謹守遵行我藉著摩西吩咐他們的一切律法、律例和典章，我就決不再使他們的腳離開我賜給他們列祖的地。”可是瑪拿西卻引誘猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民行惡，比耶和華在以色列人面前除滅的列國更厲害。

羅波安王第五年，埃及王示撒上來攻打耶路撒冷，因為他們得罪了耶和華。

他們的地滿了偶像；他們敬拜自己雙手所做的，就是他們的指頭所做的。卑賤人向偶像俯首，尊貴人也降卑，所以不可饒恕他們。

所有的人都必看見是我耶和華使這火燃起來；這火必不熄滅。’”

亞撒利雅就出來迎接亞撒，對他說：“亞撒和猶大、便雅憫所有的人哪！請聽我說。你們跟隨耶和華，耶和華就和你們同在；你們尋求他，就必給你們尋見；你們離棄他，他必離棄你們。

這事臨到猶大完全是出於耶和華的命令，因著瑪拿西的罪，就是他所行的一切，要把他們從自己面前趕走；又因著他所流無辜人的血，他使耶路撒冷滿了無辜人的血，耶和華決不赦免。

因此，他把他猛烈的怒氣和慘酷的戰爭，傾倒在他身上；這在他四周如火燒起來，他還不知道；把他燒著了，他也不放在心上。

因為他們背棄了我，向別的神焚香。他們所行的一切都使我發怒，因此我的怒火要在這地方燃點，不會熄滅。

在他盛怒之下，誰能站得住呢？他的烈怒誰能受得了呢？他的忿怒像火一般噴出來，磐石在他面前都崩裂了。

耶和華大發震怒，傾倒他的烈怒；他在錫安放火，吞滅了錫安的根基。
