Because they have forsaken me and burned incense to other gods and aroused my anger by all that their hands have made, my anger will be poured out on this place and will not be quenched.’

That’s because the people have deserted me. They have burned incense to other gods. They have made me very angry because of everything their hands have made. So my anger will burn like a fire against this place. And the fire of my anger will not be put out.’ ” ’

他重新建造他父亲希西家拆毁的邱坛，又为巴力立坛，制造亚舍拉，并且敬拜和事奉天上的万象。他又在耶和华的殿中筑坛，耶和华曾经指着这殿说：“我的名必永远留在耶路撒冷。”玛拿西在耶和华殿的两院中，为天上的万象筑坛，并且在欣嫩子谷把自己的儿女用火烧为祭，又占卜、行邪术、用法术、交鬼和通灵；作了很多耶和华看为恶的事，惹他发怒。他又把他所做的雕像立在神的殿中，神曾经指着这殿，对大卫和他的儿子所罗门说：“我要在这殿里，和在我从以色列各支派中拣选的耶路撒冷中，立我的名，直到永远。只要以色列人谨守遵行我藉着摩西吩咐他们的一切律法、律例和典章，我就决不再使他们的脚离开我赐给他们列祖的地。”可是玛拿西却引诱犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民行恶，比耶和华在以色列人面前除灭的列国更厉害。

罗波安王第五年，埃及王示撒上来攻打耶路撒冷，因为他们得罪了耶和华。

他们的地满了偶像；他们敬拜自己双手所做的，就是他们的指头所做的。卑贱人向偶像俯首，尊贵人也降卑，所以不可饶恕他们。

所有的人都必看见是我耶和华使这火燃起来；这火必不熄灭。’”

亚撒利雅就出来迎接亚撒，对他说：“亚撒和犹大、便雅悯所有的人哪！请听我说。你们跟随耶和华，耶和华就和你们同在；你们寻求他，就必给你们寻见；你们离弃他，他必离弃你们。

这事临到犹大完全是出于耶和华的命令，因着玛拿西的罪，就是他所行的一切，要把他们从自己面前赶走；又因着他所流无辜人的血，他使耶路撒冷满了无辜人的血，耶和华决不赦免。

因此，他把他猛烈的怒气和惨酷的战争，倾倒在他身上；这在他四周如火烧起来，他还不知道；把他烧着了，他也不放在心上。

因为他们背弃了我，向别的神焚香。他们所行的一切都使我发怒，因此我的怒火要在这地方燃点，不会熄灭。

在他盛怒之下，谁能站得住呢？他的烈怒谁能受得了呢？他的忿怒像火一般喷出来，磐石在他面前都崩裂了。

耶和华大发震怒，倾倒他的烈怒；他在锡安放火，吞灭了锡安的根基。
