且以耶和華所諭摩西之典章、訓迪以色列族、○

此乃悖逆之民、言誑之子、不聽耶和華之訓、

故若禾稿焚於火、枯草銷於焰、其根將朽、其花飛揚若塵、因其廢棄萬軍耶和華之律、藐視以色列聖者之言、

既登國位、當從利未人祭司所存之法律、錄為一册、置於其側、畢生誦之、以習寅畏其上帝耶和華、遵守法律之言、及厥典章、

其父母既遵主律、已畢諸事、乃歸加利利、至己邑拿撒勒、○

惟此律書、勿離爾口、晝夜思維、守其所錄、致獲坦途、而得利達、

其人遂詣大祭司希勒家、以奉於上帝室之金付之、此金乃司閽之利未人、自瑪拿西人、以法蓮人、以色列遺民、猶大與便雅憫眾、及耶路撒冷居民、所收集者、

且命耶路撒冷居民、給祭司與利未人所應得者、俾其專心於耶和華之律、

爾曹奚曰、我乃智者、耶和華之法律在於我中、然文士虛偽之筆、使法律為虛偽、

亞倫及其子、悉循耶和華藉摩西所命之事而行、

羅波安國固己強、乃棄耶和華之法律、以色列眾效之、

以上典章律例法度、乃耶和華於西乃山、藉摩西與以色列人所立者、

摩西以此律言、書之既畢、遂諭舁耶和華約匱之利未人曰、以此律書、置於爾上帝耶和華約匱之側、為證於爾、

惟以耶和華之律為悅、思之維之、夜以繼日、

大祭司希勒家謂繕寫沙番曰、我於耶和華室得律書、乃授書於沙番、沙番讀之、繕寫沙番詣王復命曰、爾之臣僕、已將室中所貯之金、傾而出之、付於督耶和華室之工作者、又奏王曰、祭司希勒家授我一書、遂讀於王前、王聞律書之言、自裂其衣、命祭司希勒家、沙番子亞希甘、米該亞子亞革波、繕寫沙番、及王侍臣亞撒雅曰、汝其往哉、為我為民、為猶大眾、以此書之言、詢於耶和華、因我列祖不聽此書之言、不遵所載諭我儕者而行、故耶和華向我、發怒甚烈、有女先知戶勒大、乃哈珥哈斯孫、特瓦子、掌禮服者沙龍之妻也、居耶路撒冷之二區、祭司希勒家、亞希甘、亞革波、沙番、亞撒雅、咸往見之、與之共語、戶勒大謂之曰、以色列之上帝耶和華云、其告遣爾詣我者曰、耶和華云、我必降災於此處、及其居民、循猶大王所誦書中之言、蓋彼眾棄我、焚香於他神、以其手所為、激我之怒、故我發怒於此而不息、惟猶大王遣爾詢於耶和華、當告之曰、以色列之上帝耶和華云、論爾所聞之言、爾聞我指此地、與其居民所言、必為荒墟、而受呪詛、乃中心柔順、自卑於耶和華前、裂衣哭泣、我俞允爾、耶和華言之矣、我必使爾安然入墓、歸爾列祖、我將降於此地之災、爾不目擊、使者復命於王、

以斯拉決志究察耶和華律、而遵行之、且以典章律例、訓誨於以色列中、○

約西亞其餘事蹟、及其遵耶和華律所載而行之善、
